Tire sizes?? 245/40/20 up front and 275/30/20 Rear??

Just got back from America's tire. I bought a set of Elite (now Dubs) Phase 5 wheels chrome, its the wife's car...

    20 x 8.5 front 35mm offset
    20 x 9.5 rear 40mm offset

I had gone in planning on buying Nitto 555 245/35 up front and 275/30/20 for the rear. The guy there insisted these are not the right sizes for the car and said the 245/40 up front and 275/35 in the rear where near perfect factory diameter replacments. I ended up going with those I can always change my mind when they go on the car. But is he right and if so why does everyone on here seem to go with the lower profile tires. Anyone have a set like this with pictures? even of just the 245/40/20's

Thanks! Wife is loving the new car, our 04 was a great car but the 08 is really a step up in refinement.

    Bobby

Well The rear 275/35/20's look pretty sweet on the 9.5 wheel...the 245/40/20's look too tall and thankfully they rubbed a tiny bit so I had them order 255/35/20's which are supposed to be a 3/4 of an inch shorter. He said the problem with the 245/35 is the load capicity isn't enough and AMerica's tire is all about sizing and load capacity. Hopefully I'll have the wheels on next Tuesday.

I just bought some black Eurotek 06 wheels for my CTS Coupe. I went with 20 x 8.5 front and 20 x 10 rims in back. Tire size for me was 245/40 front and 275/35 rear. Near perfect overall wheel diameter to the stock 18" setup. I love the look. The wider 10" rim out back sets the 275 width tires and fills the body perfect now. The 18" stock setup in the rear had my tires tucked inside the body.

Yah I know diameter wise they are pretty close but the sidewall just looked too tall in the front maybe its just the Nitto 555's...I'm hoping the 255/35 look more like the rears and really make it look good, I guess I'll know tuesday!
