Question: Xenon cts headlight swap, been attempted?

Just a question before I attempt this myself, but has anyone done a oem xenon setup swap into a cts w/o factory xenon headlight? W the non xenon headlamps I understand that they make xenon upgrades for them however the led tube setup interests me. What all is needed for this swap? Ballasts, larger power sources, misc items? Thanks in advance to any opinions/advice

The LED tube you refer to is called a light pipe. Buying new headlight assemblies sounds like an expensive project. Good luck.

Re: Question: Xenon cts headlight swap, been attempted?

I have not done this since I have factory HID lamp.

The first thing you want to do is pull up the wiring on both the Halogen & HID lamps. You want to make sure that the pins are in the same location, if not, they can be moved into the right location. The only thing you will not get working on the HID lamp are the motors that move the projector left to right. Your car will not have the wiring or sensors. other than that, the lights will fit. If you decide to do the swap & get headlights without ballasts, I have an extra set of 08+ CTS Ballasts. Just let me know.

I've done the swap. All you need to do is pull the daytime running lamp fuses, then you're good to go. If you shop around, you can get them off of ebay for a couple hundred dollars

I did it. It's plug and play.
Everything works (hids light pipe). Except for drls. You need to pull that fuse.

The lights will work just as they do on the HID equipped CTS with the following expections:

    1) DRL will not work unless u run a separate + to the correct pin on the headlight.

    2) The AFL will not work. Todate, no 1 has been able to retro fit a working system.

    What fuse? More specific?

    ----------

And is the DRL the square light thing on the top or the circular bulb on the botton?
Can i find the fuse at auto zone or anything? What about the fuse that is already there? Is it no good?

Re: Question: Xenon cts headlight swap, been attempted?

The DRL and turn signal are both on top, so to answer your question.... Yes the DRL is on top. I dont see why people pull the DRL fuse though, unless you dont want to have DRLs I guess. The "correct" DRL does not light up yet the HID still lights up instead. Ive heard people on here say it wont work due to the reduced power.... (I believe that was the reason). But I just did the swap from halogens to the cts-v lights last week, so if you have any questions just let me know, Ill do what I can to help you.

Re: Question: Xenon cts headlight swap, been attempted?

Thanks.... What do I need to make the DRL and everything else work? Do I need a new ballast or anything to provide the right power? Would you say it is a simple conversion? Is the conversion worth it or is it a recipe for disaster? I got both the lights but if they wont operate correctly there is no point...

I don't believe anyone got the DRLs to work on these. The adaptive lighting doesn't work either. Otherwise, it's plug and play.
