    Greetings everyone,

I have a very localized rattle behind the pass side wood trim - where the ambient lighting is - and looking for advice on removal.

    Your input is appreciated!

Best I can figure out is that there's 4 nuts on the back of the woodgrain. It appears you'll need to get behind the door panel to do that. Sorry, I'm not familiar with how to remove the door panel itself.

If it's a 2011, wouldn't you still have warranty? Take it to your dealer and have them look into fixing it.

Hey MW, thanks for your reply! My wishful thinking was that I could just pry it off. You're probably right though, I tried, it didn't budge...

The reason I hesitate to take it to service is that, having a lifetime of experience dealing with service departments, and knowing how rough they can be, they'll probably fix something - if that - and screw up a couple other things. And it would take four visits at that...

Been also looking to get a service manual, haven't found one yet.

go to www.helminc.com and you can order factory service manuals (just like the dealer has). They print them for many OEMs. They're pricey, but worth their weight in gold if you ever have to do your own repairs. They're like phone books in size.

Unfortunately, they're out of stock on the 2011's until middle of the month. From their website:

Thanks, MW, for the info. It's a good resource to have.

I actually removed the panel very easily, and sure enough I found the issue and fixed it!!!

You were right, the wood grain had self-tapping nuts on the back. I also noticed that it's a metal piece. Makes one wonder, why metal, and why the heavy duty install?? The piece could've been plastic - why add unnecessary weight??

Anyway, I should also mention that I was really impressed by the fit and finish of the pieces, and by the layers of sound deadening material inside the panel...

please share how to remove a coupes door panel. Are there screws to remove before pulling the panel off?

Hey David, yes there are 2 screws; one is behind the door release button - which you can pry out easily (the silver housing of the button pulls out) - and another below the armrest - unfortunately I can't remember exactly where). Once you remove the 2 screws, carefully pry out the sides and bottom of the panel and then lift up to clear the window groove. Before you pull out though you have to unplug a connector that supplies power to the door panel. Good luck!
