Cool Temporary MOD: Powdercoated OEM 18"s *PICS*

I've Decided to do something different for the time being while waiting for the perfect set of wheels. Before it starts-I know what you're going to say... so:

-Blacked out/custom mesh grille in the works..
-Calipers need to be painted (WHAT COLOR???)
-I am iffy on the Lowering, it may need it visually yet on the other hand the FE3 system is so tight and polished... What do you think?
-Too much chrome on the car...Blacking out a majority of it would look stealth... Agree?

Powder the calipers either silver or chrome. That would look incredible. Black out your entire car, and leave the Caddy Crests and calipers chrome. That would be one of a kind. You could even do some white LED lighting in the wheelwells to show off your chrome calipers.

BTW The wheels look sick. Nice work, incredible vision.

ngiardina, thank you! I was initially leaning towards red calipers (bought the high temp paint) but am further considering your idea. Silver coated would stand out just as well.
My one gripe is how to properly black the chrome out. Painting it will just chip up, and coating it will mean ripping it all off and reinstalling (which equals $$$). Also the possibilty of Black Chroming the chrome...

I have a vision, and the only remedy is more cowbell.. and more BLACK!!

Now whenever D3 gets there coldair intake out, its on!

Even if you do red calipers, don't use the paint, it looks ghetto, and gets ugly quick. Take them off and power them or use the Folia Tec laquer kit. They look beautiful.

As far as the black chrome goes, you get what you pay for. Remove the pieces and get them dipped and you wil have a show quality final product.

Wow. Just wow. I really want to powder coat my wheels now. Where did you get it done at? And was it expensive?

Where did you get that lip kit at? from the dealer?

Retail would be $100 per rim. Thankfully, we have a vendorship.

It's definately not close to being a finished product. This is my anti-bling crusade visually from the outside. Us CTS owners are a unique and diverse base, but as we join in Cadillacs renassaince, all of us are in it for the same reasons: The overall fit and finish of the car itself; and what it means to be going AGAINST the grain within a sea of redundancy.

Sorry for the rant. Passion doesnt filter.

Sorry, but black rims don't look right. Especially on a Caddy (it looks cheap in my opinion). Looks like you've got on 4 spare tires/rims. I would leave the OEM rims alone. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If you like it, that's all that matters!

that looks amazing!! i wish cadillac would of put a little bit of a lip on the rims cause i think a outlining of chrome around the rims would look good too with the black powdercoat.

Thanks for all your comments! This forum is such a great tool for the growing resurgance of the Cadillac Cult!!
I agree that beauty (or beast) is in the eye of the beholder and Im def. not a chrome rim, showstopper type personality. But more of an 'under the radar' type. One thing is for sure though- they will be looking at it with interest..My last CTS was an 04 and I went with the chrome lip/black face look. But on this version, I think there needs to be more balance in the area I live in. The southern orange county snobs need to be shown an anti-euro statement.

BTW anyone know the approximate cost of a brembo brake kit?
