Cadillac(s): 2005 CTS-V | | Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: South Lyon, MI Age: 60 | | | Maggie Guys: Post Up Your Pulley Sizes I'm looking at purchasing a maggie this spring and have been searching pulley info a bit in the ls1tech, ls1gto, and corvette forums ... what a lot of reading!
Can you (lucky) maggie owners list your pulley sizes? Front, rear, and crank?
Thanks!!!

Have thought about going with the 2.6 and alky (which I bought 8 months ago but haven't installed). I can't get traction in 1st or 2nd anyway so it would mainly be for highway pulls and track straightaways. |

I'm very curious about going this way as you don't have to modify the maggie like with a 2.6. |

If I had it to do again, I'd probably work hard at getting the two rear pulleys swapped to up the ratio, instead of using the 2.6.

WW | I understand that you have to send it back to Magnuson to do this ... that's a lot of work!
I'm leaning toward a bigger crank pulley when I get to that point. Can't find out what our stock size is, though.

might want to research this more than I did, but I believe that some of the 'vette guys have swapped the rear pulleys on their own. Really shouldn't be that tough providing you have the correct tools (pullers).
I specifically asked Magnuson to do this for me and they REFUSED.

The GTO guys have talked about it quite a bit based on the threads I've read. True, the threads were like 6-8 months old and they do have a different maggie than ours with different size front pulley. Hmm-m ...
Anyone know what size our stock crank pulley is? I've "heard" 7.33xx" or something. If that's the case, going to the ECS 8" one would mean about a 9% increase compared to about 7.7% going from a 2.8" to a 2.6" front pulley. Also, changing out the crank pulley means less liklihood of slippage, no grinding on the maggie, and no (theoretical) effect on the maggie warranty. Problem is the ECS pulley, while very nice, gets them at least $500. The argument that the larger crank pulley drives the accessories harder is valid, but that's like the guy who stays in lower gears longer before up shifting and keeps the revs up. Personally, I upshift very early and rarely feel the need to keep the revs up. (God bless the small block Chevy.)
(Sorry for my verbosity, but blah, blah, blah, blah ... ) |

I don't need anymore stinkin' ponies in the V, it's time to up the ante in the Exige now
