I was on my way back from NC today and had the cruise set to 79 (gotta stay below the reckless limit). I was bored so I switched over to GPS info, it said I was going 81. I slowed down a little and the GPS was consistantly 2mph faster. So I got a lot of time to kill on this trip. I pull up the timer and and start timing myself through mile markers. Sure enough, ever 45 seconds (up to 3min) on the dot I'd pass by one. My speedo read 78, but GPS said 80 and my head calc said 80mph too. If so, could this mean that 163 is really higher? Maybe they confirmed that with radar.
I normally wouldnt care, but I dont want to be hit a reckless driving ticket for going 81/65 when I thought I was in the slap-on-the-wrist territory. I just set the cruise to 76 and didnt worry about it. |

Ironic...i just noticed the same thing, took a road trip up to baltimore with a friend and she was messing with the GPS info screen and i picked up on the same "glitch"
i'm not too worried about it, i drive like a grandma going to church unless there are ricers about.

Urby, are you keeping track of the great thread titles? While I admit that I understood what was coming in the post, a whole different sort of Dannystang-ish visual also came to mind.
(My speedometer = GPS reading.)

At the suggestion of my attorney (no further comment on that), I had my speedo calibrated (well they call it a calibration but it is just a check) at a state certified place. It was right on the money, with about 400 miles on replacement OEM F1 EMT's.....(mine is a 2004). |

Yes, I have the EXACT same error. Unfortunately, verfied twice by radar in two different states. New 2006 car, thought I was going 83-84 clocked 86.
Later I figured out the GPS and sure enough 2 miles out. Percentage that is less than 3% and I doubt anyone would get stopped for 77 in a 75 zone, except maybe Wyoming.... |

I was coming back from NC last weekend and had the cruise set at 78 (to avoid the 80+ reckless driving ticket). I crest a hill and a cop is there. Its 11pm on Sunday night (before presidents day), no one is on the road, I'm on I-85N doin 78 in a 65.
To make a long story short. He clocked me w/laser going 80mph. GPS = Correct.
The only cool part is that he said if I go to court he WILL lower it to 9 over, or the judge may just give me an improper equipment charge. BS none the less. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
