Anyone Have Mallett Shifter?

My dealer will install a Mallett shifter for $700 installed. If anyone has one, would appreciate your experience.

FYI, I had a UUC shifter, which I loved. Right up until it broke leaving me stranded 500 miles from home. So I'm a little bit wary of after-market shifters even though the stock one sucks.

Re: Anyone Have Mallett Shifter?

I agree with svassh
When I was deciding on a shifter and leaning toward the UUC someone on the board said that theirs broke(I assume like yours did)...Then someone responded and said that the UUC that did break was replaced for free by UUC...
How long did yours last? How'd it break? Did you have the upgraded bushings from lindsay caddy???
and also.... 700 is insane for a shifter installed I believe.(the Mallet shifter on their site is 450) little steep dont ya think..

Re: Anyone Have Mallett Shifter?

I have the Mallett. It is less than $450 after you get your core charge back. I like it...but modified it for slightly shorter throws.

If you have a UUC - shit - get it replaced under warranty. You'll still have to pay install of course.

Re: Anyone Have Mallett Shifter?

FYI, I did get a replacement from UUC. But after the problems I had because of the breakage--renting a car to go back to NJ from VA, coming back down to get the car, etc., etc.--I went with the stock shifter again and sold the UUC. My most important concern is reliability since any of the after-market shifters out there have to be a huge improvement over the stock one.

Also, I don't think $250 for installation from a Caddy dealer on the Mallett is too bad a deal.
