Someone here mentioned something about not getting the tires to hook up in 1st gear with a Maggie. Having (very briefly) experienced the dramatic pull of a maggied V, I started wondering: how do you guys launch those darn things? Is 1st gear really useless?

Yea, just try and leave in 2nd gear, You will Killl the tires. Leave in 1st gear and learn throttle modulation. Take some time and practice. Heck having a track day this weekend, bring it out and learn. |

Man, wish I was there - I've never LINED up on the strip as I'm too busy cutting the road courses up. I figure soon I'll replace the diff - Billet Dana 44 or similar as I feel it may be the last outing for moi with our diffs
I'm surrounded by guys doing 8's TT Supra (Ryan Woon), 9's and 10's daily but have held off until the glass ass is a bit stronger.
As far as the maggie in first - hell ya ---just need some decent rubber and width to play with.

At the moment, however, I don't know what I would do if I had to race from a stop. I never had a problem with traction until the latest pulley change and tune. I've always been able to mat the throttle in first gear without any problems. Now, 1st and 2nd have issues. |

Chef | I agree, and some extra weight in the rear will balance the car out a little better too. |

If I feel like rowing and want to push it I typicaly shift 1-2-3-4-6 when it's wet out or I want to save some gas I'll do 2-4-6
Probably haven't used 5th gear more than a dozen times in 38k miles |

Same here. I live in 3rd-5th. I hardley ever (if at all) use 6th.
I didn't buy this car to try and get good milleage (and yes mine is a Daily Driver). I bought it to have fun. 6th is no fun
