Bunches of guys here have done this as well, but 'search' is probably not your friend... It'll pull up a lot of posts like, "What gains?" "80 HP." "No way, not on the LS6/LS2..." "Oh, yeah?" "Yeah!" "Your momma sucks!"

I just went through this with people on the phone, the forum etc. The opinions are so varied but here's what I have figured out and my friend did it, on an LS2 though, and got amazing gains! Our LS6 should not get the same gains. Anyway, with the stuff I have done adding a cam will help a great deal with a fast 90 intake and TB and of course...the RIGHT TUNE on a dyno! I have gathered that a cam and the fast 90 stuff with tune should give me about 45 h.p. at the wheels give or take 10%. I can give you an example from my buddies LS2 and he has what I have done but he has cats and only did a cam and tune and got 85 RWHP and he still has the stock intake manifold!
I have been debating so much on whether to do a cam, heads cam or maggie and have so many conflicting opinions that it is absolutely incredible!!!!!! Every maggie guy swears there is no heat soak (4 guys from installers to tuners to maggie owners) and every cam guy swears they heat soak incredibly. I have been told that heads and cam will get me 410rwhp and another says 450hp. The same guy that said 410hp also said that he MUST remove my heads to get a cam in!!!!!!!! I actually have given up for now and will make a decision in the future! All I can say is good luck in your searches and answers and decisions! |

I'd consider a pants upgrade before sinking more coin into V mods. |

Haha Dean is trapped in Mod Hell
THe V sounds real good now, just think of adding the air whining sound of a Maggie too.

I really would like to wait until someone comes out with new rear end though, dont need to be stuck on the road after racing someone waiting for a tow truck... |

While we're on the subject, my biggest concern with upgrading the cam has been the potential loss of torque down low. I love the fact that this monster has more than 300 rwtq at 2k rpms.
For those of you who have done this, have you noticed any loss below 3 - 3.5k? And how aggressive are you guys going with these cams? |

Where most cams don't make good power. Although its not like supercharged low end power. |

I have more low end torque then you can imagine! I think throwing the blower on top should give me insane 0-20mph hehe. my worries were the same, losing low end, but my worries were put to sleep first time I drove her after CAM installed. strange thing is 5th gear is very strong also between 100-135 mph!
224/228 cam (patrick G)from Thunder racing. I have posted the #s somewhere around here...let me know if anyone needs them, I can dig them up. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
