There is a base manual which covers the car, oil, tire pressure, etc. Then there is a Navigation system suppliment which walks you though how to use the navigation system. I imagine that they did this because the nav system is very complex and there was no reason to burden the normal manual with the nav info bacause the car may not come with the Nav (in the case of the normal CTS of course).
I have PDFs of both documents for the normal CTS and know what button you are referring to. Its the open mouth with lines coming out.... I noticed it was missing as well but cant explain it.
Actually, go here: http://www.crestviewcaddy.com/servic...s/manuals.html
(no v manual yet...)
Let me know what you come up with.

I really like the original CTS wheel with the volume wheel better.
No voice recognition is like taking a step backwards IMO. |

One of the few areas where the voice commands are quicker than hitting buttons.
Simple operations like changing screens are easier by just touching a button though. |

The only downfall was that it could'nt go into competition mode ( it didnt know it was a v ) but when I took it back to the dealer they had no clue what to do so I told them to just program it for a v using the obd plug.
They did say that most dealers didn't know they had to reprogram it if they swapped out the system.
I know there has to be a hack or something ecause the damn thing did it before!!!
Lets see if we can crack this mystery wide open guys!!!!! |

If you can tune out exhaust warble from a cut exhaust, surely you can make voice work and still keep the ability to disable traction control.
It was at least worth reviving a 4 year old thread. There has to be an award for this one.

It's better than making multiple threads of the same thing, specially if the problem still exists. And this is how it's done. So let's try to research this. Maybe there a tuner out there who can hack the system!! |

When the dealer replaced my nav unit they forgot to tell it it was in a v, so apparantly it thought it was in a regular cts and the program swc control option was available for buttons 1234 like on the cts wheel but now the volume down button when pressed a voice over the speakers said "Say a command" and all the cd changer nav and radio control voice commands worked in my "V"!! But my competition mode didn't work
Also note that on the sts's and i think dts's if you press and hold the phone button it changes to nav/radio voice recognition!!!! There has to be something similar!! |

I have never been aware, nor have I seen any indication that the first gen CTS-V's have voice recognition. If there is such a thing ON A STOCK CTS-V someone please let me know!
By the way, nav voice recognition is really no big deal, more of a POA to be honest with you. We just purchased an '09 Lexus IS for my wife with Nav voice recognition. As an earlier poster stated, it's easier to enter info manually. Don't get me wrong, it's great for raising/lowering volume and temps, etc., but the Nav function is better off being done by hand IMO.
By the way, this car has been a gem to own - as I tell everyone, to take this car from me they'll have to pry it from my cold, dead hands! | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
