Any '06 owners with cam upgrade?

Remove this ad
Sorry if this has been discussed already. I did a quick search and only found a little info and it seemed to mostly pertain to the LS6.

As the title suggests, I'm wondering if any LS2 folks have upgraded the camshaft. If so, did you do heads as well? Was it custom or pre-manufactured? And most importantly, how is idle and everyday driving?

I'm considering a cam upgrade and sticking with the stock heads. From what I understand, the stocks are pretty good on the LS2. I know I may lose a little power down low, but I think there would be enough mid to high-end power to offset that. However, my biggest concern of all is everyday drivability with this mod. Can a good tune really keep the V civil under low RPMs? I don't plan on going wild with an overly aggressive cam either.

Re: Any '06 owners with cam upgrade?

Consider dumping the LS2 intake manifold and installing an LS6 intake manifold with your present 90mm throttle body. Check with TPIS as they sell the kit.
Then consider a very mild cam. These motors are very responsive to small cam changes. You do not have to go radical to get a nice hp increase together with stock drivability.

Davidstan, I did buy at Hennessy. Not the closest dealer to me but they had the color combo (black/tan) that I was looking for.

I'm hoping the guys at MTI Racing in Marietta can do the tune for me. They're mainly a corvette shop but I've got a call in to them to see if they'll do the V. They're certainly no stranger to the LS engines.

Re: Any '06 owners with cam upgrade?

MTi is who i have talked to as well (expensive). I have the black/tan and first mod was black V floormats. Henessey did me right on the purchase/trade on my 06 but seem to dummy up when you talk to service about the diff in these cars. Please let me know what you end up doing....MTI has done some work already on the V as V experience is rare even at the dealership. Good luck.
