| | Cadillac Owners Enthusiast | | | | | Just ran an M5 and... Well I guess I teased the guy enough he either thought I was following him or was out of my mind...
He finally guns it at 65ish (nice new blue m5 with dealer paper tag) btw we are in Miami (if your out there m5 guy)
Got to say I was not impressed, Ive had turboed out dodge neons pull harder.
He jumped the gun maybe 2 seconds before me, caught up a little but once i was at the end of 4th he was 7-8 car lengths away (I was 3-4 when he gunned it) at the end of 5th i was pulling on him again but maybe he was letting go...
Nice to see 4 exhausts cough up black smoke though those shifts look deadly like he was powershifting (I know its an auto)
All in all I think the old z06 is faster, they pull away much harder on top end...
Or maybe the new m5 is geared to pick up faster in the low rather then high.
Anyhow nice car...
Now I have to apply a blower and rematch...
Too bad when i went fender to fender to give him the thumbs up he totally had a D*ck up his arse and blew me off like I wasnt there.
Now I have to taunt him daily!
Or poop on his car. |

The M5s are not automatic, they are the SMG transmission. Thats why it looked like a powershift. The trans shifts in a nanosecond. The fully manual trans is not out in the states yet.
Good run, if it was real. Did you see any cows flying overhead? |

I suppose it's possible that this hypothetical M5 wasn't in "M" mode. As the guy from TopGear explained, the car isn't all that impressive unless you press the M button. |

It's kinda like alot of us and our TC-off buttons. |

| | Cadillac Owners Enthusiast | | | | | Re: Just ran an M5 and... Not sure whether you are mod-ed at all, but 500hp is 500hp pusing 4000lbs. Some obvious challenges in a new M5:
1. Steep learning curve of how all the modes work
2. Steep learning curve of how SMG works
3. Draconian break-in rules up to 3100 miles
4. High-end power means you must stay in there until near 8k revs
Facts are facts, and from a roll, modern engineering to modern engineering, 500 hp pushing just a bit more weight than 400hp will be faster. Now if the M5 driver could only get around all those dozens of switches, modes, and crap.
I had the previous generation M5, and I'm not convinced there is much difference in performance with the CTS-V. The V is sure more fun to drive, and the M5 is definitely the happier to the two for super-high speed cruising, but I don't think the V is much faster. Don't forget, knowing how to drive and go to redline in each gear is not a given for all owners. |

A. Wasn't trying 100%
B. Didn't know how to drive
C. Had the car out of M mode which only has that car making 400hp instead of 500.
Either way the CTS-V should have gotten walked, HARD. |

From a roll, the V is very quick. Numerous times me and my brother with his 03 srt10 Viper have run. He pulls on me but not too bad.....not like Bigshowjim's run in with that Ford. My brother is "trying."
The new M5 has 400 ftlbs of torque, even when you hit the M button (my friend's Laser also had one of those button's also by the way). The post says he was beat, but not like he expected. Now if the M5 had 500/500 ala the Viper or 460/500 like the AMG 55, it would be a different story. |

I think the M5 is only at 400HP if it is not in M mode and who knows what the torque is seeing how the V has more torque than the M5 even when it is in M mode. The M5 is supposed to run a 12.5@115 and weighs 4050lbs. That isn't all that much over a V. |

M5, however pulls on the 360 modena, 911 turbo from a roll (no lies, video available) |
