    How Important is a tune??

    I have basic bolt ons. Long tube headers. Magnaflow Exhaust w/ X-Pipe. CAI. Check engine light is obviously on from the headers.

    My question is, is it worth tuning? Guy I know who has a pretty good reputation for tuning in the Houston area will dyno tune it for around $300-$350. I was told it was bad to be getting on it without a tune. How much can I expect to see on power gains? Is it bad to be driving without the tune? Thanks

    The only way to really tell if it's bad to be driving without a tune is to check you A/F ratio. Power gains I’m unsure of, but obviously better with a tune.

    A tune (a good tune) is more than a power increase. It's about drivablilty and how the vehicle reacts under certin conditions.

    Patrick Guerra is close to you, I'd look to him for tuning.

    i have ps lt , high flow cats and made 380hp and about 370 tq i think. I feel the difference.

    "Back in the day," most guys were reporting a 20-25 rwhp gain with L-T headers and a tune on an LS6 ... a bit more for an LS2. Your results may vary.

    As stated above, the tune improves non-WOT motor response, as well.
    '05 CTS-V, Maggie, Kooks, Hotchkis, Ground Control, Corsa, B&M, DSS/Hendrix, Full 3M Clear Bra, Autovation, V Headrests, CTS Console, STS-V 55w Fogs, Black Vette FRCs, Specter Werkes, Katech LS9 Clutch, SS Brake Lines, Heavymetals U-Turn Fuel Line Eliminator, Momo Combat Evo Shift Knob, Wldwhl Clear Sidemarkers, Linea Corse LC855 Wheels or OEM wheels w/'06-'07 Center Caps, plus a couple more. 472 RWHP/411 RWTQ (Mustang Dyno).

    I just had mine tuned today. 374/365 which was only up 9Hp and 6 torque from pre tune. He was able to fix my A/F ratio which was throwing on my check engine light. I only have the basic bolt-ons as well (Kooks headers, Corsa exhaust, CAI). I am happy with it. If you have the extra money to get it done to make your V running optimally, I suggest doing it.

    Just got mine tuned a month ago. I wish I had it tuned from the day I bought it. (All bolt ons) A little more power, but it also drives much better. Do it!
