The gentleman with the best aftermarket shifter(s) no longer frequents this forum, but can be found on other forums.

Probably the best overall shifter really. Haven't tried one yet but the other alternatives don't have the rubber noise isolator in them and transmit a lot of transmission gear noise.

I have a spare Katech short shifter if anyone is interested - in a box, just sitting there.

    Edit:
Sorry if I came across soliciting a Katech shifter. Darkman answered your question. There is a progression depending when you joined the community. V8 Solutions (54inches) came out with a shifter that gives the Katech a good run for the money - I have both and I prefer 54inches. The one Darkman is referring to has been doing shifters for many years. His latest shifter is a Hurst that he modifies and customizes for the V1s. FWIW, in the next week or so, I'm going to be installing the Hurst shifter (modified to look stock btw).

    Cheers!

Hi I have a 2006 V there is a Katech license plate frame on my car and was wondering can you tell a stock shifter from a Katech by sight? Or do I have to take the boot off to identify stock or aftermarket? Thanks for the quick replies, everyone!

I think you would need to take the boot off. Takes two seconds.

What Brian did for the shifter should've been done in GM's design facilities back in '02/'03 ... instead of the rubbery mess they call OEM.

FWIW, my B&M shifter transmits no noise whatsoever and is still the best mod I've done. No V1 should be allowed to exist without an aftermarket shifter.

So you're going to have a 54inches one for sale very soon? They don't have any on hand right now, and my car is in the shop for clutch/slave work, so it would be an ideal time to swap out the shifter.

Yeah I'll have to let purge my shifter inventory provided the Hurst is a comfortable fit. The 54 shifter has been very good to me with my new clutch MC.

I'm happy with my PISNUOFF shifter, but I would go with the modified Hurst shifter he has now.

My apologizes Luke. The UUC is, in fact, a great shifter - I still have one in my V. For some reason I thought they were no longer available.
