I have had the Katech for 4 months or so now....HATE IT! Love the throw, but the noise is unbearable. Save your money, the Katech is metal, to metal to metal meaning that there is no sound dampening like the UUC. Metal tranny to metal shift rod to metal shifter....all bad!!!! I bought the UUC instead, goes in this weekend.
UUC has NO noise!!! If you leave your hand with some pressure on the stick you get alil noise...
and a GREAT shift... Very solid and crisp... I say UUC all the way!
After changing out the shift knob and wrapping dynamat around the stalk my Katech still makes some noise :helpless: but only when I leave my hand on it, applying pressure one way or the other. TPIS flywheel is on the way so I'm seriously considering taking the Katech out and going with the UUC.

Dynamat, that's an interesting idea. How much dynamat did you use? Can anyone think of anything else that might work as well or better - foam tape, anything?
I too am looking @ UUC shifter, $399 seems pricey for what I see just a handle... I'd like to hear more about the installation..
Does it come with install instructions? can anyone email me those instructions? jerrycecco@yahoo.com
I have had my UUC shifter for a couple weeks and it is well worth the time and money to replace the original wobble stick. No noise, and it shifts pretty much like my snick-snick BMW, maybe even better!
These are valid up through #11 for removing the stock exhaust system. Then disregard the rest and go to the UUC instructions, but YOU DON'T HAVE TO LOWER THE TRANSMISSION!!! Just drill out the rivets according to the UUC instructions, but do it under the car. (Wear safety glasses to keep chips out of your eyes!)
The old stick can then be removed under the car and the new one installed under the car, and then button everything back together.
Trust me, this saves a lot of needless time and effort by not lowering the transmission or removing the shift bracket from the car.
I installed the UUC shifter this weekend - I didn't even remove the drive shaft, just worked around it. Dropped the CORSA exhaust from the cat flanges to the resonator then drilled out the rivets from beneath the car. Only problem I had was tearing the rubber boot when trying to remove from the stock shifter. Shifts are much improved but I did notice a small (very small) amount of transmission noise coming from the shifter (I can hear it with the radio off and the windows up). Very happy with this mod.
