Can't get sub 5.0 0-60 with Maggie

Remove this ad
Hate to say it, but it is true. Admittedly, it was cold today (45 degrees) and traction was a huge issue. Best Gtech 0-60 with T/C off was 5.4 something and 60 ft was about 2.3. Spin, spin, spin all the way through 1st and well into 2nd (yes, powershift).

With T/C on I managed a 5.192 - a good tick off from the 4.762 I logged last year in basically stock form. 60 ft. was 2.105 and yes, spin, t/c engage, spin, hop, powershift, no hop, etc. You get the idea.

I'll be curious to see what can be had once I get a chance in warmer weather. This confirms my dilemma (Lawfive and Dreamin - you listening) - going to have to get 275's on the back one way or another

I had one sweet run that is well over 100 foot of no hop rubber. Might have to sneak back tonight with the camera for evidence. It is strange the way hop is sometimes there and sometimes not (with T/C on it is always there). Differential is still together and not whining, so that is good

I'll tell you this. There was a guy on a mountain bike that I passed as I ran up through my only 1/4 mile run. The Maggie is a lot louder outside the car than in - I think he crapped his biker shorts

Also did a 1/4 mile run at 11.786 and 132 mph :drinker

You run a sub 12 quarter and worry about 0-60? And 135 - your motor must have an amazing top end rush. I'd be sooo happy with that.

Did you try a run without the "Wild StealthV" tune and do a stock Maggie tune comparison? Curious if 50+ less horsepower will improve your 0 to 60 times.

As you've documented, my V will smoke yours until you hit 3rd gear.

Rick -

Good idea. I'll be playing with the Gtech more tomorrow. I'll flash the magnuson tune in and see what 0-60 and 1/4 mile times per the Gtech compare to our tune

It's the law of diminshing returns... I have seen the fastest corvette get his butt kicked to 60 cause he stood on his back (literly-no wheely bars) and another who spun though 3 gears (no traction)...

Without traction, there is no 0-60 times... Get traction and I am sure you will beat a stocker no problem... Oh yeah, and then smoke me above 70 too...

Just for the record, what is your best 1/4 mile time? I have yet to see one posted for a maggie-powered V.

Re: Can't get sub 5.0 0-60 with Maggie

As us 2003 supercharged Cobra owners know, it's not how much power you make, it's how much you can get to the ground. 45 degrees is really cold, you'll do much better in more realistic weather.

As a quick fix, BF Goodrich makes a Drag Radial in 245/40-18 size, $300 a pair. The problem is the lack of cheap wheels in our size/lug pattern to keep them on. But they'd sure help you stick that power to the ground for "offical' runs and maximum giggles...

Wild,

Were you playing with your 132 statement?

'Cause I went 132 @ 10.35 in my S-10 with a 100 shot. So I agree with Jam, umm, V-Tech.

Re: Can't get sub 5.0 0-60 with Maggie

Yes, gents, the 1/4 mile time posted was a big :drinker: comment...I was playing with you (wasn't that obvious?).

I don't have any official 1/4 mile times with the Maggie yet. Need to get to a real track. Currently my best "guesstimated" 1/4 mile uncorrected and pulling data in a very generic method from EFILive Flashscan is just under 13 seconds...but I can't verify it and don't intend to.

Since the Gtech is installed again in the car, I'll run some 1/4's at my favorite secret spot once the temps are back to at least the 70's and compare them with my runs from one year ago. My best Gtech 1/4 mile was (let me look)....13.236 @109 before. I'll let you know how I beat that, if I beat that, soon.

Still thinking 9.5" rims in the rear with 275/40/18's are a must
