I recently just blew the engine and my 05 CTS V ls6

Haven't taken it apart yet but by the way it sounds and being a mechanic it's easily a bent rod.

So my options are open now for rebuild kits.. I'm looking for other peoples opinions and recommendations for aftermarket pistons and rods.
    Please help.

What are some good strong rod brands?
Buget-about $1300.00...if I have to go over for quality then I might make , exceptions
    Thanks!

TMS or Texas Speed for the short block. Advanced Inductions or TEA for the heads. You never stated what you were looking for.

How did you blow it up? Also how far of a rebuild do you want to go? Big money? Budget? Will you be tracking it?

. I really appreciate the help thanks.

What would you recommend for a "not to big power asking-/reliable" re-build?

I took a friend out for a spin..drove it hard up to redline till 4th gear, felt a huge power loss around 5k rpm "engine light started flashing"....after I knew it there was a huge knocking noise coming from the bottom of the block.

As of how far I wanna go- complete rotating assembly rebuild..•pistons-connecting rods-bearings• and crank shaft if it needs it.

    Buget-about $1,300.00 or so.

Tracking it...no. just looking for a not to big power gain with reliability. .no bord or stroke up sizing. ...

I really wanna finea simple bit lighter piston and strong rods .

Thanks for your time. Appreciate it.

Only thing you'll find for $1300 is a used short block and transferring your existing heads st over with new gaskets. Maybe do a cam if you have money. Any LS1 or LS6 will do just fine.

I just look at the ls6 kit texas speed affors for about $1,600.00...

I think I might go with that.
Ill easily get a bit more power with that kit right?

But also, im thinking of what if I don't need the crank shaft..it will be cheaper just buying some wiseco pistions and rods.

Would you happen to know the stock rod length, and or piston compression/bord size?

Are the ls1 rods the same as ls6?

This sounds like trouble....OP before making any purchases, confirm your problem with your car...that will tell you for sure what needs to be ordered. No point in buying stuff then you tear it down and find something else that you will also need to order, better off making it quick and easy. Second, if I were spending over 300$ on anything I would do a lot of research on everything related to it, but thats just me...You could get your V running back to stock no problem. You seem to want an upgrade, which is understandable. I would do a lot of research on what you would want your car to be more long term (ie bore/stroker/force induct.) If you have plans for anything like that somewhere down the road, you have the perfect stepping stone to start now, even if your not going the full distance right now. Thats just my opinion, also call some speedshops and just talk with them you would be suprised how much they can help you and teach you. I really like Texas Speed myself, I have always had great customer service (which goes a long way in my book). For more in depth engine threads and builds I would check out some other sites too, LS1Tech is home to me and still has a lot of great info.

Good luck man! and I am sorry to hear about your car -- that is a shame now, but it will be better soon!

Sorry by the way if you feel like I was rude or blunt. I see people on forums all the time ask questions that they want simple answers to but in reality to do it right the first time, it is a bit complex.

Also, just my 2 cents btw....keep us updated!
