    Ran 12.457 @ 116.34 pass one....broke a CV on pass two...

I went back to Maple Grove for County Corvette's Race for Ronald McDonald house charity event on Saturday. I have not changed my car's setup at all since my last 12.7 @ 114 run back in May, the only difference is that it was about 10 degrees cooler on this day.

    First pass I launched from idle and with a 2.07 60' I made the 12.457 @ 116.34:

I was very happy with that run and decided to try to launch harder and get the 60' down on the next pass. Well, my first experience with wheel hop led to this:

    .

Busted the inner CV on the driver side axle. I had the car on the lift yesterday and we inspected the diff and there is no other visible damage anywhere. Needless to say it surely could have gone a lot worse! I have a set of G-Force axles on their way.

I have a Gen 4 rear end that I've had for about 4 years that has caused me no trouble and obviously held up here to some violent wheel hop. The only mods to the diff are the CS front bushing and the CS diff block. I doubt I'll be back to the track with this car unless I decide to add more power at some point.

Sorry to see the damage. On a brighter note, once you can launch the car harder you shoul dbe running 11's

    Excellent job!

Besides making the axle puke it's guts out

Man, it makes me miss Ecto-Cooler Hi-C looking at those pics.

Thanks guys. G-force axles are being delivered today so I should be on the road again in a few days.

    Very respectable time!

Bet you wish you had those axles on prior to the run, you won't have to worry about that anymore. You'll like having no WH.

Thanks! Of course I wish I had them...but I never had a wheel hop issue before so I couldn't justify getting the axles before now.

Thanks! Yeah after the 12.4 run I could taste a lower 12 run with a decent 60' but clearly it was not meant to be. Oh well, I still had fun and based on the mph I know where my car stands. My mechanic put the new axles in last night so I should have the V back on the road today.

I would have been glad that CV grease didn't get flung everywhere..

I've had to clean that stuff up on the S4 before. It's not fun.

Should have the opposite effect. With no WH, the diff should live to be a ripe old age.

I know. Mostly it was a jab at Tom. I was there racing with him when this happened. Talk about being scared to leave hard the next time up .......
Edit. BTW Tom when are you going back to see it break into the 11's. With a good launch I know it can happen.
