I did some talking to the guy doing some fab work on my car about the Rear Cradle bushing inserts like SW used to sell.
He can get the delrin material and have them machined up if there is still a market for them.
Cost-wise it would make sense to do like 10 sets at a time and if my math was correct, between the materials and labor they would be around $275 (give or take) shipped per set...
What do you guys think? Still people out there that need them?
Group Buy or something...
3) Is there a deposit needed, payment up front, or is this just a showing of hands as of now?
4) When would production start and how long of a turnaround on the parts?
5) How was the design made? A copy off an old set or is it something the company, that is going to manufacture these, has spent time R&Ding themselves to make sure they are machined right?
I noticed a difference right away. Tightened it up nicely. As far as the install, they basically lowered the rear cradle, slipped these in and bolted it back up.
Click on "Suspension/steering," then click on "Rear cradle bushing installation." You'll need a cheater on your breaker bar to loosen those cradle bolts and then again to tighten them back up, otherwise these instructions are the best ones I've found.
I'm sure others will chime in on this too. Outside full blown solid mounts the Delrin material is way harder than the rubber inserts that came stock, so the cradle has less deflection under load. Delrin also lasts longer vs. urethane.
GM originally came up with their own version years back to help fix wheel hop but it didn't really change that much and if they weren't greased they would squeak.
These inserts basically take up the voids in the cradle mounting points and make it more ridgid. Naturally the downside is more road/driveline noise but it was worth it to me. I've had my set in for a few years and they still look new. I can't say much about the wheel hop but the rear of the car definitely feels more planted.
There should be some threads with pictures and more info around on these as I didn't design them. I'm just having someone remake them again since they are no longer available
Is CF erasing threads now? I wanted to post a link to my thread but most of my posts/threads are gone.
Anyways, I always support cradle bushing. Next to the Maggie they probably made the biggest difference in how my car feels. And makes it MUCH more fun to drive. She handles better with them and gives you more confidence in corners. Wheel-hop is a non-issue for me.
They did introduce some rear end whine, but higher weight gear oil quieted that down. At interstate speeds, 65+, the diff is quiet.
Seems like GM made changes to the 06/07's to help out the wheel hop and as a result the bushings weren't going to make much of a difference.
So basically no one ever addressed it.
On the install make sure you grease the snot out of these with a marine grease, i used Super Tech Marine Grease from walmart cause it was cheap.. If you dont grease these well upon install they will squeak. overall i liked these after they were properly greased, they significantly decreased the hop in the rain on the stock drive train
Specter werks vs White GM TSB knock offs installed under warranty
So far we are up to 5. I posted it to ls1tech as well but doesn't seem to be many interested there.
Lets see what the weekend brings, it won't hurt for me to ask
Im still in. My car just got done today so will be picking it up this weekend and this is the next garage time project.....well this and the lenses in the front...lol
OK guys he said he will start to make these up for us.
Of the 6 so far that are interested or anyone else, please shoot me a PM with your name and email address so I can get you out payment instructions. The forum only allows me to send out 2 PM's per hour and it would take too long going that route back and forth.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
