The 2004-2005 models came with 1.25 inch diameter hollow axles. The 2006-2007 models came with 1.50 inch diameter hollow axles. The larger diameter axles did address the propenstiy to break exhibited by the original axles, but with both axles reamaining identical in size, material, and density the larger axles did nothing to address wheelhop.
This may be a dumb question and I haven't searched, but has anyone tried running one of each. I'm assuming that the 1.25" to 1.5" probably isn't enough of a difference to eliminate the wheel hop?
Do you mean one newer oem axle and one older oem axle? I wouldnt mind the gforce kit but i feel i need a new diff first. I have replaced my axles with remanufactured axles and theres still quite a bit of clunk.

Axles aren't typically a cause of clunk, nor the diff itself. You should be looking for creative steel diff bushing and block, any aftermarket motor mounts, and a new clutch/flywheel.
I have absolutely zero hop in my V now but I also spent an arm and a leg replacing pretty much everything in the back of the car. New diff, BMR trailing arms on toe rods, Revshift cradle and diff bushings, Gforce axles, Hotchkis sways, Powergrid adjustable end links and Ground Control coil overs. Now I just need a set of tires besides my RE-11s to roast.
