    2007 CTS-V Best Performance Upgrades?

I purchased a 2007 cts-v last year in mint condition with only 11k miles. I have a 100k mile warranty from the dealer. It's been a dream, but I have the urge to upgrade the performance to break closer into the 500hp range. I'm not a mechanic and I'm not a mechanic by any means. I barely know how to change a tire lol.

What are the top 5 greatest hp performance upgrades?

What are the top 5 least expensive performance upgrades?

Which brand is the absolute best for each?

Are the performance upgrades going to void my warranty and/or shorten the life of the engine? I drive it pretty hard.

    Thank you for the feedback!

Most of us save a lot of money wrenching ourselves. The fact that you woyld be paying for labor makes most any upgrade cost a lot more. That being said, I would first change the shifter. Then the clutch to something lighter. Most get the LS7. I love it. These don't void warranty.

Don't see how the clutch wouldn't void the warranty, even if it is a GM part. Any besides, neither of those things really add power like he was asking.

Voiding warranty is all dependent on the dealership. To not void the warranty, I'd say have a dealership install a Magnuson supercharger.

Thanks for the suggestions. Can you educate me on why you recommend a different shifter/clutch? I've had issues shifting. It was stiff. the dealer has replaced the clutch and the shifter before. Since the new shifter was installed it seems a little smoother...looks a tad bit smaller too. Could that be the one you mentioned?

    ----------

Thanks for the recommendation! Is that 120hp to the wheels?

What's the average price to purchase and install from a dealer?

With this addition do you think it will keep up with the new benz that was made to beat the new v's?

Will the supercharger reduce the life of the engine?

    Thanks a million!

usually 100-120 to the wheels, yes.

Don't forget your supporting mods, valve springs, pushrods, etc. etc.

The s/c is a great idea along with headers. I would definitely discuss with the dealer if you want to keep the warranty. Things like h/c will usually void your warranty.

Just for the parts kits for the supercharger on my car runs $6,300, you would have to add a decent chunk of labor on top of that if you weren't installing it yourself.

The first thing I changed out on my car was the shifter to a short throw and it was worth every penny, turned the car from a Mack truck shifter to an actual car. Next came intake, headers, exhaust, tune now clutch and motor mounts then cam and heads.

If you have the extra $6k now go supercharger, If not then I would say headers, exhaust, heads, cam, tune. Going to cost about the same in the end but you can do it in pieces.

As for warranty I have no feedback on that as I bought my car out of warranty.

heads , cam, long tubes get my vote, 80-100 wheel hp increase, depends how wild you go.
do a serch on this subject and you will se multiple threads with various set ups from different vendors.
find the closest repituatible vendor and let them do the install, you wont be disapointed.

Re: 2007 CTS-V Best Performance Upgrades?

You guys rock. Just a couple more questions:

What is the short throw shifter called? What model/name?

Do they make a twin turbo for the 2007 cts-v?

Would you prefer a super charger or a twin turbo? I hear twin turbos are better for the engine and prevent wheel hop because it doesn't kick in until you need it...?

What is and where do I get it tuned? Is it electronic or a manual thing by a dealer?

What exactly is heads/cams and why/how does it increase the hp?

You guys really agree and think I can get 100hp to the wheels by doing intake, exhaust, heads/cams?

    Sorry for all the questions.

Look up sts turbo kits. Twin turbo remote mount. As far as warranty goes you probably should stay with the Maggie. (Supercharger)
