still extreme newbious here- is the fixed in three threads sad, funny or just ridiculous. I got lots of suggestions, but no one caught on to the backwards assembly thing. Actually I think one guy got it on the other LS1 link.

Maybe they should comp you a new shift knob.

    Check out MOMO.
I totally agree on that end. Momo are nice shifter knobs? I remember they made great wooden steering wheels back in the day for Ferrari, Lambo, etc.

    I wouldn't recommend it if I didn't use it.

On both my V and Z.

Magnuson called today and approved him for a dealership. I'll save my "botch" comments for when I actually drive the car.
Well, since everyone else here already stated the obvious problem, I stated my skepticism. Sometimes smart people just do stupid things. Let's hope that's the case.

I hate set screws. The knob will always shift over time...

re: UUC shifter built with knob mount backwards

No, the case now is UUC sold me a backwards shifter! How about that for a goof ball operation. Luke at Lindsay let it slip "this isn't the first time either!" So I spoke with the president of UUC, says "overnight it to me and I'll send you a correct one." OK-but mechanic says "no way." I got 6 hours into the damn thing now and now you want me to take it apart and ship it. So I guess it doesn't matter which way the shifter faces, its the knob on top that's facing the wrong way. Easy way to fix-buy a new nob, I guess. UUC should pick up that tab, maybe a top of the line MOMO or something. Mechanic refuses to work on the car anymore unti UUC agrees to do something for him. Cant say I blame him. Can I buy another type of knob and just pop it on? Apparently the rest of the shifter orientation doesn't matter.

If you don't mind the movement, a MOMO shift knob works with set screws, as heavymetals indicated in another thread...

Not if you file a flat where the setscrew meets the shaft.

I did it with a Dremel.

    Three places.

I think I like the one in your photo better. Lindsay sells these, or elsewhere? Thanks for the help=2 posts, eight posts, I just want my V back!

UUC comped me THEIR best CTS-V shifter for free (its on the lindsay page for $169) as far as labor and my mechanic's aggravation "sorry pal, that't the way the industry works."

Re: UUC shifter built with knob mount backwards

UUC has for the most part treated the V crowd like a red headed step kid.

Their real bread and butter is the BMW crowd.

I don't think they would be treated the same.

You got comped something, so whatever.

I am still perturbed that the motor mounts (version II) aren't much better then version I.

The attitude of the owner of the company sucks swamp water (I spoke to him on the phone).

At least he didn't threaten me.
