I cant believe this is gonna happen. I got intouch with the guy who made that great coupler i showed you all sometime ago.
He is puttin it through production and wll have them ready in two weeks. I obviously get the first one. But the rest are all yours...
"Thank you for the dimensions. We will be able to make that easily. We have been looking at making one for the CTS-V for a while now. It will look similar to our BMW flex discs but with the proper dimensions. The price will be ABOUT $149.99 with free shipping. It will also come with a lifetime warranty just like our BMW parts. I think we can have one ready in about two weeks. I know there is a lot of interest in these so we will be producing them and selling them on our website. They are Patent Pending of course..."
What got me was the quality, the free shippin and the lifetime warranty.
Good work Naf. Looks like nice stuff and the price is outstanding! As long as they dont have the quality issues that UUC has, I think that looks like a great company!
wow nice I have been looking all over for a suitable replacement...even measuring the one on my 2jz-gte supra drive shaft....It is very close...I just put a maggie on and think it is only a matter of time before my small stress cracks become a huge issue...
great find. I will be picking up one of these when ready. Like 154 said, not hiding anything. Convince them to do motor mounts for the V at the price they are selling the GTO's and they may have something.
Providing the OEM disc hasn't failed, what are the benefits to installing this? Will it have any negative effects to either riding comfort or noise? I understand that it can handle much more abuse than the OEM version, I just havn't learned what the other benefits are.
I really dont know what the benefits are, but off the cuff i can see a more resposive drivetrain, with more power directed to the rear and less bbeing obsorbed by the coupler.
Now it comes with a down side where there is no "give" in the drivetrain to help protect the diff, Like its so indestructable...
I just am eliminating all my weak points so i only have myself to blame when i lose...
Motor mounts i got through Luke, and they were the first batch, no problems yet. Very happy with them till now...
As a CS coupler (which is very similar) user I can say that for me the effect was minimal, you wouldn't know anything was different if you drove it. No real change in noise, perhaps an almost indecernable change in clunkiness if you're torque loaded and quickly step on the clutch, and maybe a little better feel on takeoff but really it could be all placebo it's so subtle. I have noticed a sort of "chugging" feel at low speeds when not on the gas, it happened at the same time as install but might be unrelated. Overall I don't think it made any real difference in my car, which makes me think my stocker was in good shape, but it's one less thing to go wrong later. When CS did it it wasn't as a performance part, just a solution for those that had a failing coupler and didn't want to get raped for a whole new DS at $700+. These should be much more durable over a longer time period.
Unless yours is failing I wouldn't bother, or if you have a lot of power upgrades and a diff solution it probably makes sense. I'm pretty sure this would be putting a bit more stress on the diff but hasn't made anything feel harsh. Price looks good on this one.
You are right but why would yo need one? In all honesty the reason for replacing the rubber mounts to Poly are to stop the saggin issue. Rubber compresses and doesnt retract back to its original state, Poly gives a little but retracts to its original state. There for there is less issues with the poly than with rubber.
I can't post pictures yet but maybe someone else will be kind enough to do so. There is a picture here (subtract the *'s from the url) ht*tp://ww*w.revshift.com/cadguismall.jpg
I don't get on here much, so, please contact us directly with questions.
Thank you, everyone, for the interest.
I think Naf already covered it, but here's the image linked directly.
I'll ask a silly question, since I (knock on wood) haven't had any issues with my driveshaft coupler yet and thus have never looked for it. This goes at the front of the driveshaft, where it bolts up to the transmission, correct?
FWIW, the prothane 6 shooter for the new camaro would work on our cars. the output shaft for that car is identical to ours in dimension. I verified it with a take-out tr-6060 from a 2010 camaro and my V's driveshaft.
Awesome information. Did you actually bolt it up and use it or just measure it up? If you physically installed it and tested for noise, vibration etc then I would say a new thread with your findings is in order. Great alternative if it works with no issues!
The transmission I have is from a new Camaro, I bolted my V's guibo and driveshaft up to it and everything lined up perfectly. The output shaft is identical in every respect.
I was going to use the tranny in my car, but it turns out that the 6060 is about 1" longer than the V tranny. I would have to shorten the driveshaft and shifter linkages an inch, then fabricate a different tranny mount an inch further back for it to work. I ended up just re-using my transmission.
The Revshift coupler is designed specifically for the cts-v. It has extended bolt sleeves (just like the stock part) that fit into the flanges for proper positioning. It is also priced better.

Might be worth your while to see if this CTS-V coupler will, in fact, bolt up to a '10+ Camaro. That would certainly enlarge your target market by a significant amount. There are a helluva lot more Camaros rolling around then there are 1st gen CTS-Vs!
There are a fair amount of our couplers out there now. How do you guys like them? We haven't heard much from the people that purchased them. I assume that's a good thing, though.
I will be installing mine this coming weekend, along with some other small goodies. I'll give an update after my road trip.
