Not much to show with pics, other than what they've posted. I did drop the entire rear cradle (only brake lines and 4 bolts once you pull the diff/driveshaft) and fuel tank to put in a new fuel pump.

First impressions..... ALL of the whine from the stock diff (117k on my stocker) is gone, you don't even know it's back there. I've jumped on it a few times, the shudder from the rear diff dancing all over is gone, it just heads straight to tire spin. Fairly underwhelming, but I think that's entirely the point!

My drive shaft is arriving today. It's the last part from DSS for my kit, so about 6 weeks from the date I ordered was the wait. Thanks for the info regarding fasteners from CS. They should be here today also.

Thats odd. Mine came screwed into the front bracket. I also paid the $40 for the hardware kit.

I paid $45 for the kit and it didn't come with those two bolts. I assume the same bolts that are holding the stock diff will be used???

We screwed up by not including those bolts, call the shop today, talk to Kristie, those bolts will appear in your mail box. If you have a hardware company close by and would like to get them sooner they are 12mm X 1.75 X 80mm long. the grade should be 8.8 or 10.9.

Re: CREATIVE STEEL: CTS-V 8.8 Rear Diff Swap BOLT IN

I bought the complete 8.8" kit and upgraded the axles to new outer stubs as well. I installed it myself a while ago, but wanted to put some miles on it before I gave a review of any kind. First off it was a relatively simple installation with regular hand tools and on jack stands instead of a lift. Just remember the driver side axle won't fit in if you have the differential already bolted in place so wait to bolt it all in until after the axles are slid into the diff. Other than that it is really simple. My Corsa exhaust runs pretty close to the diff, but doesn't touch. I have 1000 miles on the diff now and no problems. The only drawback to the diff swap so far is that my 295/30zr19 rear tires appear to be losing tread rapidly and there are these strangle solid black lines all over the roads near my house. A 3000 rpm clutck drop results in lots of tire screaching, black smoke, 2 long black lines on the asphalt and no axle hop at all. There is still a little bit of driveline clunk, but the dual-mass flywheel may have a lot to do with that (LS7 clutch and flywheel are next on my list). I have absolutely no worries about the rear end anymore when it comes to hard launches. The car just hooks up and goes like a true performance car should.
