Do not install the shorter end links until after the car is lowered or they will snap like twigs the instant you lower the car off the jack.
Ask me how I know that one.....

Here's a few pics of writeup:

Forgive my ignorance but are these end links needed regardless of the amount of drop or only after you lower past a certain amount? I am looking at the cut spring method (not a huge drop) and was not sure if I needed the end links or not. thanks!

Some folks have lowered significantly without installing new links and haven't had any issues. Others have snapped the oem ones like twigs. Not sure what gives with that. I decided to play it safe and pick up a set for $40.

Hey guys. I'm doing the install this week sometime and I just put the car on rhino ramps today to see what I was going to be working with space-wise. Damn, with the wheel on there and the front end just on those ramps, I can't see how anyone got in there to un/in stall those links. No way there's enough room. Especially to drill out for the new links. Did someone actually DO this, or was it just a suggestion? Also, is there an alternative to ramps? If I put BOTH sides in the air, will there be preload on the links? Or should I be ok?

you can always put the car up in the air then use a jack to raise the suspension some to get it to the height you want.

I only have one floor jack. From what I understand, in order to take preload off of the links, both sides of the suspension have to be loaded identically; hence, the rhino ramp method. Unfortunately the aforementioned method doesn't seem to provide much or any room to work...

Jack stands are fairly inexpensive not to mention they'll give you improved safety. Cement blocks and 2x4s are a close second.

No, no. I meant the jack itself is all I have one of. I have plenty of jack stands. Maybe I missed something, but how would I use a jack stand to load up both sides of the suspension equally? I could have it in the air (via jack stands at jacking points) and then use the jack to load up one side via the lower control arm, but would need another jack to load the other side at the same time...
