    Re: Weight Reduction Checklist

If your estimates were accurate you could get the V down below 3500 lbs. That would be a game changer. I doubt someone would be willing to give up both seats though for a street/track car. I still think the seats are the area that could reduce the weight the most. I bet 200 lbs reduction is achievable with 2 seats ( I like Sparco Milanos) and some of the other mods you mentioned. I lost 40 lbs from the drive train with the Fidanza twin disk. I wonder though if my Corsa cat back weighs more than the stock system. Good thread though. Good topic.

    Interesting list.

Lightened flywheel might get you another 10 lbs. Naf ground his welds down ... that's a thought.

    Re: Weight Reduction Checklist

BMI is 23 (6'1", 172) - no weight to lose

I've seen someone mention draining the washer fluid but, like the front seats (and the SpectreWerks CF doors I didn't list), it isn't something I'm going to do. In another post, I believe I saw that the racing Vs weighed in at 3550lbs

Fidanza twin disk clutch? I didn't think about a clutch reducing weight... hmmm. That makes the flywheel more attractive too (might as well do both).

Good one Randy. I was wondering how long it would take to bring up grinding welds. LOL.

I believe NormV saved 70 lbs per front seat.

Ground Control is only $500. If money isn't a concern, carbon fiber body panels would reduce alot if weight, especially the doors.

    Re: Weight Reduction Checklist

I've had the rear seat out a number of times, and weighed the seat back the last time I had it out. I don't remember the actual number, but it was in the 50-60# range. The seat cushion doesn't weigh a damn thing, but that seat back is heavy!

    Stock clutch/flywheel assembly - 68#. Fidanza twin disk clutch/flywheel assembly - 33#.

A dry cell battery should save you more than 10# since the stock battery is so big.

Not sure where you got $2200 for Ground Control coil-overs. Or are you planning to have them make you actual coil-overs (rather than just using the coil-over sleeves)?

    Re: Weight Reduction Checklist

Losing the run flats is worth a few pounds.

I had a seat project going but abandoned it this year. I did some research and you can buy a B pillar seat belt mount kit. The real dilemma is giving up seats with power and heat and an airbag. The second dilemma is you need to custom fab a mount for any and all aftermarket seats such as Recaro, Sparco Corbeau on a V.

Pat's scale is off. My bathroom scale don't lie. I lost a solid 40lbs. on my Fidanza

    Re: Weight Reduction Checklist

like I say - a starting point. I've updated the original post based on everyone's feedback - thanks!

sorry - didn't mean Ground Control - meant KW coilovers.

as for the 1 seat plan - read the previous posts - this is not likely to be something I do but thought I'd put it in there anyway. Losing the airbag is a deal killer for me. If a single seat was used, yes, I assume a custom slider and a 5 point harness would be involved. Google carbon fiber race seat

where can you get this from- Carbon fiber trunklid 12 $1,095.00? My trunk feels like it weighs 75 lbs or more! Could it be that freakin heavy? I would think you would save more like 50 lbs with a carbon fiber trunklid but did not know that they made them. Is this custom or does someone offer this already? Thanks for the info-good post!
