So I've had an LS7 clutch and flywheel with a C6 slave and a spacer for almost a year.
First off let me say that for 600-700 bucks, this was the deal of the day. Got rid of the clunk, I'm happy with the flywheel weight, no bogging, no slipping (but I'm not pumping 800HP either)
Due to the fact that my V is my DD and I sit in traffic a LOT.. I'm not a big fan of the extra long whip on the C6 and LS7 slave cylinder. Thank God I have a remote bleeder!
So I'm posting this thread because I am thinking of getting a orig CTS-V slave again. Which means I'll have to run a spacer to make up the difference for the thinner LS7 flywheel.
I know there is at least a couple guys that did this with a spacer... I really just want to know how thick that spacer is so I can have it ready ahead of time before I do the switch.
Anyone still have those measurements? I would appreciate it.
I have a new stock slave and spacer I will sell you! The spacer worked perfect with my LS7 setup and another member copied the dimensions and it has been working for him as well. I would have returned the slave but Luke wouldn't take it back without the box and unfortionatly, I lost the original box. Let me know if you're interested. Cause the slave has been in the back seat of my caddy for about 5 months now lol
So the slave is new and has a new throwout bearing as well right?
If so, let me know how much you want for the slave and the spacer.
I've been having some t56 problems.. had to replace the 2nd gear lockout (even though it was disabled) and I can hear the synchros spin up and shifting has been a little dicey.. so I'm waiting for her to fail.. then I'll get a rebuilt one from RPM and install this slave and spacer while I'm at it. (that's the plan anyways....)
The slave and bearing are both new. I'm not sure what a good price is for the slave. How about $225 plus some shipping for both the slave and spacer? I know I paid more than that for the slave from Luke.
Your trans issue sounds more like a disengagement issue. When my SPEC was acting up and not disengaging you could hear the syncros spool and I would also get some weird vibes as well as shifting problems. With the new clutch I don't get that but the SPEC did some damage to my trans. I have to double clutch to get into 3rd and 4th and good luck down shifting into those gears. I'm gonna have to pull mine and was thinking about going the RPM route as well.
If my clutch ever goes, I'm probably gonna go with the LS7 kit.
What do you mean by "extra long whip"? If you remember how it felt, let me know how this feels different than a stock clutch.
Thanks
The LS7 slave has a long hose that connects to the master. It's about a foot longer than it needs to be and runs close to exhaust and other hazardous components. You can tuck it out of the way but the potential for harm to come to the extra length of hose is always there.
Hey Tony. So The amount of force needed for the clutch pedal didn't change. I can't really speak to the engagement since I couldn't use the LS7 slave from Luke, I ended up scrambling and getting a regular C6 slave with a 1/8" spacer... so my engagement on the pedal will pry be a little bit different than if I had use the slave I had intended.
Just like what was said the whip is about a foot or so longer. You can loop it up above the trans or up the trans tunnel. I wasn't real worried about it being so close to the exhaust, I just had heating problems because of all the stop and go traffic I'm in all the time.
I would totally recomend the LS7 clutch though. The dual mass is gone, clunk is gone, it revs faster up and down, and the price is right! You got a maggie though and I'd have someone who runs more power with a LS7 clutch chime in to make sure there isn't any slippage... but I think there are a couple guys running it with power adders w/o any problems.
getting rid of that flywheel though is one of the best changes I've done to the car... IMO a must do upgrade...soooooo much better!
so it over heats because of the extra 1 ft of whip? I was thinking of getting the ls7 kit. I have a stock v. i daily drive mine in the heat a lot so i don't want any problems with it over heating. thanks for any info.
Ahh 154 I just saw your post with the price. I already shot you a PM on the matter... So our lines got crossed... let me know though ok? No rush. Thanks
so if i get the kit from Luke i will have over heating problems? Also where can i get the dimensions for the spacer? BTW if anyone needs some spacers i could make extra if there easy enough? what type of metal are they made of?
I purchased the LS7 kit from Luke, and as usual I received great service and a great price. The clutch operates very well, modulation is great, pedal feel is great. The dealership used the heat tubing I gave them to add to the clutch lines, and they installed a remote bleeder for me. The Tick remote bleeder has enough length to secure the bleeder nipple near the clutch fluid reservoir with slack. Overall, I am very pleased with the OEM LS7 clutch. I thought perhaps I should have gone with the Ram flywheel instead, but after driving the car again, I am sure I made the right decision buying the kit through Luke.
I am extremely happy with my LS7 clutch with ram flywheel. Total combo was cheap from scoggin ( around 600 ). I'm also running the katech spacer (70shipped).
