LS7 clutch kit - driving impressions / review

So I have just over 1k on my LS7 clutch setup..

I went from a spec 3+ which grabbed nice, but wouldnt let me shift at high rpms .
To a fidanza twin disk which is total junk, toasted it in 1500 miles. No track launches just street driving.
So Finally I decided to go back to OEM.

Got the LS7 kit with aluminum fly from scoggin. Really fast shipping I must add.

The Total Weight for the LS7 kit with P.P. bolts and the flywheel is 43lbs.
Which is alittle lighter then stock but wont hurt driveability.

I love this setup , my car is used for just cruising and the occasional run it with something on the highway . So I hope it lasts.
Its so nice not to rev like a maddman when I take off from a stop . But when I do want to bang gears this thing crabbs like hell.
    :hump:

Yeah almost pulled the trigger on an ls7 kit a few days ago.... getting so tired of the racket my stock flywheel is making. Is there a reason you went with ram flywheel instead of the ls7 flywheel? How much of a weight difference between ram and ls7 flywheel?

That one is aluminuminum! Thats probably around 13lbs or so or at least my Fidanza LS7 aluminum flywheel was 13lbs.

I think Im gonna go with OEM when im ready too. I mean my stock LS6 clutch and flywheel has lasted 8k miles with a cam/long tubes/100 shot. An LS7 should do the job since i dont dig race or beat on it too much.

Did you get the car retuned when you did the LS7?

If your going from a stock V flywheel to a single mass , and your cammed yes you most likley need a re-tune due to the Faster RPM drop.

The ram aluminum fly is about 10lbs lighter then the stock ls7 flywheel.
And Like someone mentioned about the fidanza flywheel is even lighter.

Confused.....what to do now. Had the same thing. Fidanza crapped out after 3k miles no drag racing. I loved the way it reved quick and grabbed amazingly before it went out. I installed an LS7 clutch with an LS2 flywheel and it drives easy like stock but is noticeably slower. I wish I would have went with a lightened flywheel of some kind with the LS7 clutch.

The slave isn't part of the package, right? So you would need to get a C6 slave?

I noticed when I change my stock clutch out for the LS7 kit, that the pressure plates were exactly the same.

Tony beat me to it. I will add that I believe it's an LS7 flywheel that Luke sells with his kit. I'm sure you can ask for it without it if you want another flywheel instead.
