Been a rough month for the V. Threw a rod bearing shortly after getting a new cam and we've ended up having to pull the entire block apart.
So, good opportunity for some improvements.
Currently have the block over at a reputable engine builder being spec'd out for a 402, forged bottom end, trickflow 225cc heads and new B&B headers. I'll keep you posted.
:hmm: Hmmm, I see your age moved up a notch . . . and I thought I was going to catch-up by next Wednesday and you go and :burnull ahead of me.
:cake: Happy Birthday . . cause it must have been recent. :bdmuffin:

You wont see 10lbs on the 402. Thats a lot more volume to fill so with that 112 your boost will drop. I'm sure the car will still run like a raped ape but you will be limited with the 112.
The smallest 8 rib I could find is a 2.7 and that was IW. I asked them about making a 2.6 and they seemed like they didn't want to make it. I would try and do something with the rear pulleys though. I know its tight back there so maybe go with a braided cross over fuel line for the back or bend something up to make it around the pulley's. You start going down that small and I think you are asking for trouble even with an 8 rib.
If your are looking at 600rwhp then why up to the monster 4, are you planning a little laughing gas while your at it? The 402 might be a little stronger than you think, you can be at 500 just with N/A. Good luck with the project!
Oh yeah, what compression and piston are you looking at running?
The way I'm going I figure it's only time before a tvs goes on. with a maggie, heads, cam, headers and a 402 I may be coming close to 700 at the flywheel which is pretty close to the spec of a stage 3 and I don't want to change clutches again.
Well then again, sorry to hear about the rod bearing. I can feel your pain. Sounds like the new combo is going to be sick. Pics and vids as you can please.
It seems as though OEM CTS-V lifters and OEM LS7 lifters are proving to be unreliable when used with aftermarket cams & valve springs. (I may have to change mine.)
Something is not right here . I again state that I have several LS7 Corvettes with very high lift cams (.640 and higher) running over 540RWHP N/A and have had zeero issues . The LS7 lifters that we are using in Niks LS2 are custom with custom lifter tie bars.
Hey guys, Manny here . Niks personal CTSV mechanic :lildevil:
Ok here is a bit of a run down on this project for Nik.
Yes we are doing a forged & blue printed blower 402. This motor will run at just under 10:1 compression making it able to run the snot out of that 122 at 10-12LBS boost, and yes it will work ..............untill Nik gets bored and we throw on a TVS :stirpot:
Here is a small list of components :
Callies crank
Diamond pistons
Diamond Rings, Locks, and Wrist Pins
Manley rods
Clevite 77 race bearing
Plasmamoly rings
ARP bolts
LS7 lifter with custom lifter bars
Trick flow 225's / 62cc chambers
Cometic Head Gaskets
Lots of custom machine work :bouncy:
Looks good Nik,i didnt want to jump in and cast doubt but 600 rwhp wth a 112 would be tuff, with the 122 you shouldnt have any problems.Ill give yall something to shoot for ,ls1 122 647 rwhp....427 122 686 rwhp...maye that will give you an idea...having a bigger tb pays off uge wit this type set up,20 plus rwhp ,if you want a igger tb give me a call 980 521 0722
Holy hell man, that sounds like its going to be one hell of a bulletproof combo! Can't wait until you get it all together. Have you considered CTS-VR lifters or any aftermarket lifters?
I know several around me that are running the LS7 lifters and the VR lifters. Honestly I have not seen any issues with either. I will be running the LS7 liftes, but maybe i need to get a set of the metal trays. hummm... never thought of that.
Yep. We'll see. I'm thinking around the same maybe a little more. She was pulling 475/475 on a dynojet last year comfortably (just with maggie and meth). No crazy timing either. At around 7psi peak with plenty of belt slippage past 6k rpm.
We have since then better intake, cam, heads, 402 motor, 8rib OD pulleys, headers and a new clutch. Also the -20C temps might help me.
Numbers are moot though it's nice to see big jumps.
I'll run a poll in a couple of weeks time when she's ready.
BTW, I'll have a parts sale soon on all the old stuff.
LS2 Heads, UUC flywheel (in good shape and re-machined), LS2 intake, RT cats (spoken for so far) and whatever else we can salvage.
A small update : Dropped to John's to check on progress and drop off on off my LSX engine pullers I made for him . Looks like after close inspection it wasthe torsion bearing that went and not a crank bearing . Goog thing we caught it in time as it would have granaded the enitre engine :bomb:
Here is a boring picture of the tear down .
Sorry for the pic quality ,phone camera
Oh and for all that are looking for those tie bars , you will have to wait just a little while .
These are a custom designed by John for the LS engines and will be made by Morel :worship:
Niks engine will be the first to use these :bighead:
Parts are on route and should be here Thursday , once that happens assembly will be begin and I will post pictures .
Thx
Manny
