No but you said he DID use a press? I was saying he didn't he used a socket and hammer. ???

Oh well not important just saying he didn't "press" it in with a press, he "pressed" it in with a hammer

What are the toque for the 2 diff mounting bolts? The bolt that retains the bushing? And the driveshaft bolts? Thanks!

Whelp..........It sounds like it's time to build a F'in tool to put these bitches in.
I'll crawl under the car (wait a minute.....I have a lift now) revision: I'll walk under the car tomorrow to get some ideas on how to build a "pull it out and push it in" gizmo. Or, maybe I should cut the bushings down 50 thow, then include some epoxy......kidding.

    I'll keep you posted

By any chance would you still loan it out?

Re: Diff Differential Bushing Install Removal

i just sent one of his back on thursday priority.. Brian should have it back on mon/tues. It did help - really whether it too out the entire bushing or just rip through the rubber, I planned on having to cut the bushing so I was not too busted up about it. I could not have got to the busing sleeve without it. If I had more time I would have made an insertion tool. I just had to get car together and in garage cuz of snow. Would not be bad, just need long big bolt, a contoured "puck" to mate to CS bushing flange face, and some type of thick brace with threads for the bolt to span the back of the diff bore to draw it in.

I used a flapper wheel to dress the bore ID and CS bushing exterior until it was a snug, not press fit with a freezing bushing and hot bore. Used a deadblow to knock it in and used loctite 290 (wicking loctite). It aint going anywhere. The 290 is loctite for pre-assembled joints and literally vanishes via capilary action into joint

I'm working on my writeup and can post it shortly as a pdf rather than trying to upload tons of pictures. I do have my specter werks written up and will post soon too.

Interesting method! Hope it works out (I'm sure it will). I wasn't thrilled about beating it in with a hammer, but it did work!

didnt read anywhere that you had to take off rear axles? I take it its an obvious yes inorder to rotate the diff to that certain angle where you can access the bushings.

    - where did you buy your new bushing, I need to do that one, along with tranny mount and the two bushings holding driveshaft.. fun.. wouldnt it just be easier to drop the diff though?

You don't have to remove axles, unless you want to take the diff out, which is a lot more work.

UUC bushing/trans mount from Luke @ Lindsay Cadillac, or CS diff bushing/trans mount from Max at Creative Steel.

Sounds good, just not sure If I want to struggle under the car or take it all off and comfortably do it on a press.

gonna start stripping her down shortly, once I decide if im making the driveshaft bushings out of a rubber or aluminum... what would you V guys suggest?

Just a FYI... Save you guys sometime

The driveshaft does not need to be disconnected. There are 4 screws & a plate near the middle of the car that support the driveshaft. Remove them and you will be able to do this without disconnecting the driveshaft.
