    Billy's Exhaust Kicks A$$

Today was a great day! I drove over and meet Bill Boat at his shop. He dropped what ever he was doing and made himself available (big thanks Billy). After brief introductions he gave me a tour of the facility (it's HUGE) this is a picture of the 20,000 extra square feet he just added and here is the video of some of the shop. shop 1 and shop 2 Everyone was busy and very professional around the factory (big plus in my book). I watched several employees working on all kinds of different exhaust systems. Here are the polishers doing their magic.

Billy seemed very happy that a fellow V owner was interested in his business. I got some pictures of the V exhaust system off the car as they just took it off yesterday I think. Here they are whole system, rear end view, resonator, up close to view welds . While we were talking Billy asked if I had some time, I said sure, he then asked one of his guys to grab his V and put the exhaust back on so we could hear it (NICE!!). In about 30 minutes we then got the view I have been waiting for.

THE CAR SOUNDED INCREDIABLE. I don't think my camera does the exhaust justice. Here are the sound bites first is idle to about 4000 RPM, second one is closer idle to 6000 RPM, third one is idle stock V (Dgtal's) vs. Billy's at idle. Let me say this one more time THE CAR SOUNDED INCREDIABLE. It would be very easy to make this car sound bad, loud, and flat out ugly, but Billy did a great job on this system. The car sounded quite enough on the bottom end that you would notice it if you were a car guy, but the casual bystander would not. Should you elect to use your right foot however, you will hear the difference. The exhaust sounds perfect in the car while driving, zero drone at various speeds (we went for a drive). Under WOT the exhaust lets you feel the V come alive. I also asked Billy if he mad modded his car since it did seem "peeper" than mine (un-modded), he said no mods are done except the exhaust. He did mention the V hits the rev limiter approximately 2 seconds quicker than stock since the exhaust is breathing more. He said without a doubt they are making power and I believe it. He will release dyno numbers when they can run stock vs. the exhaust upgrade (today was to humid). Here is a pick after we took a drive in his. Stock V tip, Billy Boat tip, rear view. Here are various pictures of the under carriage of the Billy Boat V.

One other point to make about the sound bites, the camera did not catch the bottom end of the exhaust. THE CAR SOUNDED INCREDIABLE

In my opionion this exhaust system is the best system out there. This exhaust system will be on my car. The man has done an incredible job on the exhaust, and when he makes his headers I will most likely put those on as well. Billy thanks for allowing me to tour your facility and see the wonderful job you have done on the exhaust system.

All pictures and video (with sound) clips can bee seen here.

Thumbs up Re: Billy's Exhaust Kicks A$$

I want to make sure you guys understand I don’t praise too often like I did in my previous post. Billy’s exhaust system kicks major tail in my opinion.

I will try and get better audio on the next visit. More inline with the audio clips on Billy's site.

Looks good and sounds great. Can't wait for mne to arrive.

And a big thanks to Billy for making sure the B&B exhaust is compatible with the BMR wheel hop kit.

Ordered mine last night. What should I expect to pay to have it installed, and where should I take it? Any shop? Anyone in the Austin area by chance?

Swapping cat-back exhausts on the V is super easy. At a shop it would probably take an hour tops. So $50-100 depending on the going shop labor rate.

Are we still waiting on Dyno #'s or have they been posted yet? That is the factor I am waiting on before I sped any money.

Most likely there will be little HP gain. Going to a larger pipe may even hurt the HP figure. The reason to buy this is the sound . I had a 2001 CLK55 and it had the best exhaust sound I have ever heard. Nice deep tone that had a smooth sound. Now if this new system can duplicate that .....

What should I do with the stock exhaust? Any reason to keep it?

Keep it for warranty stuff. If you do decide to sell, let me know how much you want for it.
