Going to make new Motor Mounts Have Q's

Remove this ad
I'm going to make a set of poly motor mounts. From what I've read, it seems straight forward enough. First question: How tall should the mount be? I would check and measure my stock one, but it being different construction, and in pretty rough shape, I can not be sure of the dimensions. Next question: Should the all-thread(or bolts) be one piece and have a modified washer in the middle to grab the urethane or should I go with two separate bolts that have no physical contact? I don't like the idea of having nothing but urethane holding the mount together, but I'm also concerned that the mount will transmit too much vibration if I go with a single piece of all-thread right through the middle. My other thought was to just remove the stock mounts and fill them with liquid urethane, but not sure how the stock mounts are assembled and if they'd take to that kind of treatment. Anybody have some good pics or cut away of the stock mounts?

Thanks,
Tom

Re: Going to make new Motor Mounts Have Q's

I'm planning to go with the 80a urethane. As for experimenting, I'm normally all for it, but I would rather get as much info as possible first. I don't really have the time I used to to try and try again and I'm not really looking forward to even removing the mounts in the first place.
