Installing B&B headers and catback in 2 weeks!!

Okay so I finally ordered my B&B headers with the catback system!! I will not be running cats so this will be an especially bad ass sounding exhaust

It will be my friend and me putting the stuff on. I personally do not have very much mechanical experience, but luckily for me... my friend is a mechanic. He was a mechanic for 8 years and now is a service writter so hes great with cars.

To aid him and myself a bit, could someone tell me what is involved in this project. What parts need to come off? Anything we need to be careful about.... any tips?

    Thanks guys

Oh yea....my friend specializes in European cars and said that it is a problem with the exhaust mainfold bolts breaking off. Do I need to order an extra set of mainfold/header bolts in case we have one or two break off or should we be just fine?

The B&B header install instructions in the FAQ were written by Rick (StealthV). Unfortunately, the one thing he glossed over (okay, that's being kind ) was the reinstallation of the dipstick tube. Several guys have gotten to that (missing) step and ended up having their car towed to someone who could get it back in ... I was almost one. I'm sure you're mechanic friend (even though his experience is with European cars ) will do just fine.

Oh, btw, you'll love the sound. Good luck!!!

You should also change out your motor mounts with the exhaust manifolds off.

Just installed my Kooks. Tube is a piece of cake when 1 is under the car and the other is putting it in.

Of course having a lift helps also.

Have fun with the steering arm. Damn bolt was a pain in the arese to get loose.

I also already had the oil drained. (for other reasons) so the extra clearance from the missing oil filter was nice.

Get some good locking header bolts too. Then you should never have a problem with them backing out.

You going to use the rear O2 sensors or have them tuned off?

used stock gaskets and ARP studs, never had a problem. Also, see if heavymetal still has the solid copper gaskets for the cat-back connections, worked like a champ for me.

+1 on the Stock gaskets !

If you can get the real 1 piece copper headers gaskets from Heavy....get em! B&B doesn't have them anymore, and they send out the 2 piece gaskets (copper covered but gasket material on the inside) They work well, but not as high quality as the one piece coppers.

They were however cool enough to send me 2 of them for free when I called in! That's customer service
