1. how important is it to purchase a new spindle nut???
2. New spindle nut: a. reuse b. buy hendrix nut c. buy dealership nut
3. is there a left or right - passenger or driver??
I want to change diff fluid while under there. I have all the tools and just want to be sure I start off on in the right direction. Thanks in advance for the help. Once in, off to the strip I go.

Not sure if the OEM nut is the same thread size as the Hendrix nut, if memory serves me correct the nut is a different socket size. So best confirm before running out and buying a dealership nut. I know in the repair manual they say not to reuse the nut, probably a just incase thing.
They also say to use a new clip ring, but I don't think that is so important. Luke at lindsay told me they only have ever ordered very few of the rings but have done tons of axle removals for seal leaks. They don't even stock them.
Yes there is a left and right side, I'm pretty sure it's the drivers side is the short fat side, it's on the forum somewhere.
You will see which one is shorter and longer if you pull both axles first.
Sorry I can't give more definitive answers, LOL. |

Once in, off to the strip I go. | You should use a new axle nut. My Hendrix-Engineering axles came with new axles nuts. The OEM axle nuts are the same threads - I know this because I used the OEM axle nuts to seat the assembly and then substituted the new (Hendrix-Engineering provided) nut for final assembly. The axle nut is GM part number 10257766. |

Thomas, I sent a PM about the nuts, Thanks. I cannot wait to install!!!! Went to the strip one last time last time pre install. Although I bettered my personal best in all categories, I could not get the car to quit hopping. I tried launching all kinds of different ways, but the end result always the same. I am pretty sure new rear tires are in order and could also be contributing to the hop and lack of traction in the 60 ft. best time last night: 13.79 @ 106.21 mph 60 ft: 2.37 |

Awww come on Verywhite! I mentioned ordering the new nuts last week so you wouldnt have to wait to install! You could be doing it right now! lol Did you get the big hub socket and gear wrench with the axles? I forgot to give those to the shipping guy until after have packed them up, and then he said he'd slip them in there. Hopefully he did.... |

Kmakecki, I know, I know, should have ordered early in the week, but simply forgot. I sure was going to put them in Saturday, too. They will be in very soon. With no hop, you're going to blast that 13.79 best right out of the water. I'm guessing 13.2, maybe 13.1. |

You have to drain the fluid if you take the axles out anyways.
(34mm is the socket you'll need for the spindle nut)
