    Wheel-hop eliminated/no upgraded axles

As everyone knows I installed the Ultra Mounts last Saturday a week today
I had to do at least a week of thorough testing before I came on here claiming
my wheel-hop was gone, just from installing engine mounts.(Yeah hard for me to believe and I'm a mechanic)

But the vids don't lie as you will see. I would like to say that in no way am I receiving anything from Creative Steel from what I
have written or taped. I just want every "V" owner to experience what I'm
feeling, and have a new found respect for their GEN 1!!!! Once again thanx
Creative Steel. NOW WATCH THE FRGN VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is great news, however I notice most of my wheel hop comes when shifting into second and third, and, obviously, when it's raining. Can you give us an update in these conditions?

    Nice vids, Cavette.

It's cool of you to post up here in an attempt to better the V community's knowledge, it's appreciated.

As for the fix, I also don't understand how mounts could affect the wheelhop, but the proof is in the puddin.

    Nice burnouts!!!

No offense but I would say this is an unusual occurrence at best. I've had a couple different mounts in my car as well as many others on this board and I cannot recall anybody having no wheel hop because of mounts. Now with that said, it does look like it has cured yours! So congrats on a wheelhopless V!

How is it possible that motor mounts eliminate wheel hop?

I mean it's not that I don't believe you because it's clear by the videos....but I just don't see how it could do that.

The only think I can think of is if you look at the entire drive train as one long unit from crank pulley all the way to the rear diff.

so if its like a twig which moves on both ends freely ( the hop and the engine rocking)... then locking the engine down would prob help keep the movement on the other end to a minimum.

but who knows. i would need to look into it a bit.

That is exactly how it helps. Fixing poor motor mounts has help for a bunch of cars. Its just our V is a whole different animal. Although it seemed to have fixed this particular V, in no way would I bet money on it fixing another.

    Re: Wheel-hop eliminated/no upgraded axels

though this isnt going to be a 100% solution but things like motor mounts, lowering the vehicle, various tires and these axles could add up to a perfect solution.... if used on the right road surface and condition

    Re: Wheel-hop eliminated/no upgraded axels

Maybe you didnt have hop before but just never checked? lol

I know a few ppl that have upgraded mounts and still get hop

Srry man i just dont see how a motor mount could rsolve the issue, but glad it did for you.

once you put some mods and more power to the ground i think it will come back to be honest.

My kars replica bar resolved 90% of my hop, but now that I put a cam intake and catback it seems to hop a bit more.. Need to find a set of bushing but spector is on back order... thinking of making a set...

    Re: Wheel-hop eliminated/no upgraded axels

I have the UUC mounts (ver. 1, which I need to replace) but it didn't help my hop at all

Maybe I need to get a set of these steel ones. I didn't catch it if it was posted, but did those steel mounts introduce anymore vibrations, noises, etc?

I would warn against solid mounts bolted to a aluminum motor, save your self some money, put a tiestrap on your motor ,sinch it down tight, when you see that it does not help wheel hop you can undue the strap and not have had to buy anything
