Yeah, with the Royal Purple, I've seen so many people make mention of it, I thought I'd give it a try a few years back. My oil temps were unmistakeably and consistently higher - was not at all impressed. The new Mobil 1 also seems to allow consistently higher oil temps, than their oils of a couple years back.

After constantly forgetting to do it, I finally got around to putting in an order and I kinda bought a krap load of fluids/greases/filters and what not from Amsoil, including about 36 quarts of their Dominator 10W-30. I think it came in probably just last week or the week before, but I'd be interested in what you guys are running, as well. Will be looking forward to any further specifics/info you come up with, as well as the price. Thanks.

I use half Redline 75w90 and half 80w140 in my diff. The heavier fluid seemed to quiet down the diff even more than the regular weight. It seems the longer it's in there the quieter it makes it. Now I can barely hear any whining. I also make it a habit to change my diff fluid out once or maybe even twice a year....depending on how hard I beat it

I'd like to know more about this "cocktail."

I used Mobil 1 in the transmission and Amsoil 75W-90 in the rear gear. Noticed absolutely no change (better or worse) in performance, gas mileage, sound, temperature, etc. by changing out the factory fill.

Just as in many mods, I think the placebo effect kicks in.

you guys would buy snake oil if some one said it worked.

go to a forced induction site, and use what they use, as
turbo applications require a lubricant that doesnt break down
    under high heat/stress.

the rule of thumb is, never change your trans fluid, as adding to much, or to little, will result in gear failure.

as far as your rears ends. i'm not touching that with a 10 ft stick.

Yeah, I grew up with those rules and I can assure you that they never applied to, nor even contemplated, six-speed Tremecs lubricated with ATF nor IRS Getrags.

I've heard the "rule" for automatic transmissions. The last automatic I owned was back in 1991.

Good, I don't want you nor anyone near my rear end anyway.

Oh and believe me, if the AMSOIL does anything like what it did for the motor, I can't wait to get it in the trans.

Unless changing fluids also changed how I drive, I did notice a mileage increase on the highway. I regularly see over 27 mpg.

What were you getting before the change?
