Will removing the wipers/motors and associated panels/covers do it for me? My car isn't here at the moment, so I can't look at it ... my mechanic just called me about it.
BTW, I am NOT AT ALL interested in removing Miss Maggie in order to do this ... certainly not when my OEM MMs are just fine.

Will you be running without a front strut bar then?

That would make the engine even easier to lift the 6 inches or so to put the new mounts in. Especially since the strut tower brace is removed (like deedub said)

The strut tower brace is easy to pop off ... probably have to take off the air intake tube (elbow) between the TB and the MAF, but that's easy, too.
Naw, it's way to the rear of the maggie itself. I remember that spot, 'cause when I did the install, I had to lower it down to almost on the valley pan in order to get it under the cowl area before finally letting it all the way down and in place. Dang! Wish the car was here so I could better explain this. |

You have about 1 inch of clearance between the rear belt/pulleys and two parts of the car that are unmoveable, BUT on my car there is a bolt coming down that is part of the windshield washer assembly that you really only have about a 1/2 inch of clearance with.
So if the wiper assembly comes out, you go from 1/2" clearance to 1" clearance without removing the maggie.
Why hasn't anyone else brought this question up? It's good to know your mechanic was looking before he jacked the motor up.

Yeah, he does some work for Den_93 (they go way back), and is a good, conscientious guy. He's already done the FW and slave ... says it runs fine so he did that okay. I'm picking up the car on Wednesday and will look at the wiper assembly with him. Gotta take it back to him in August some time to finish everything. Quote:

It is actually closer to 1" but the extra 1/2" will give some wiggle room. |

The only thing you need to clear is the dowel on the bottom of the lower aluminum pad which is about an inch long. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
