Re: Dyno #'s of an x-pipe install?

I was at the Car Craft Summer Nationals last weekend and stopped at the MagnaFlow display to inquire about an X-pipe. They said they don't make them and don't recommend them for CTS-V's or Corvette's. They said the only application that makes sense for them is on NASCAR cars with restrictor plates. Other than that they said they are a waste of money. Any opinions on this?

I've said 100 times before, headers are much more important than cat backs. The exhaust is at its hottest (expanded) as it goes into the headers. You can slowly neck an exhast down and not lose HP.

Clarification....they don't make them for the V, so they said. Anyone with any technical knowledge regarding their statement?

Re: Dyno #'s of an x-pipe install?

They do not make a cat-back exhaust, let alone one with a x-pipe that will fit a V.

However, the universal, 2.5" x-pipe fits the V perfectly. Pictures have been shown on this forum and LS1Tech of the install.

I don't think it fit perfectly. Looked to me like they welded on extensions.

Clarification...perfectly meant the horizontal spacing between the two pipes. The resonator is longer than the x-pipe and this mod requires extension pipes to make up that length.
