I have to recommend against cutting the whole cage off the sensor housing. I did, and when I tried installing it (which requires some force) I ended up bending the thermistor leads when the sensor didn't go straight in.

Now I have to pull it apart and see if I can save the thermistor to put it in my other sensor housing. If you leave at least the top part of the cage in, though you won't get the thermistor further into the air flow, you will protect the thermistor from contacting anything while installing it.

Maybe I'm a retard, but after I put the sensor in I had a really bad feeling about the little thermistor dangling in the manifold. I pulled it straight out and the damn thing was bent up. I know it wasn't damaged coming out because it's pretty easy to pull it straight up and out with a pair of pliers.
I gotta check on mine. I think its pretty deep, but do you think you may have hit bottum? Plus I'd like to know if it bends under boost.

I'm not sure if it hit something going straight down or when it turned a bit on an angle when it was going it. It's hard to see what the hell is going on back there.

You know what - we should see if we can get one of these guys with a maggie sitting in a box to snap a couple pics of the sensor installed if it can be seen through one of the intake ports.

Great idea. And its not like there's a shortage of un-installed Maggies right now.

No, this is Race Proven Motorsports in Claymont, DE. I don't know Paisley or Craig but Roshan has been tuning LS cars for years.

PM justin311. His maggie is sitting in a box at his place ... he just got it. Don't think he's started his install yet. Great time to get a pic.

Yeah I already asked him and gave him a picture of where the sensor is located and what to take a picture of. He said he'd do it...

Haven't gone out to the car and actually looked at this, but how well/poorly can you see the IAT connector?

Super easy. Back of fuel rail, pass side. Map sensor, and IAT right in front of it.

Somebody better show Justin how to focus that thing.

For those of us who've not been back there playing with it, I don't know what I'm looking at.

    Just an FYI

If magnuson adjusted the timing table like this then it's safe to assume there is no chance of detonation on 93 oct. with that being said I dont have a blower on the car and may in fact see gains as well by doing this mod as well right?? Although a tune is where the real benefit lies (currently stock tune).Im curious how much HP its worth

Craig Paisley used to run in the NHRA under Pro Import Rear wheel drive class, He broke some records with his Supra and Tundra. Google him youll probably come across his bad crash.

anyhow he currently works at www.rpmnorth.com and I believe his tuners name when he was with Toyota was Rashan , Thats how I got mixed up

Your looking at the inside of the manifold, right under the Maggie. The black thing, with the orange around it is the working end of the IAT sensor (the cage).

With the Maggies, the IAT sensor gets moved to the rear of the intake manifold. This way, you get a better reading of the air temp while in boost. Stock, the IAT sensor is part of the MAF. In short, you cant do this mod.
