same here. ive been contemplating dumping the rest of my warranty and applying the residual toward the axles etc. but i know something will go wrong immediately afterward.

the question is why is only one company in america making these? im thinking this will change in the next 24 mos as word gets out. then the laws of supply and demand will eliminate the auction factor.

im not sure if i can ***** foot my v for 2 more years so ill end up taking the bait once i get past the upcoming matrimony event

if im hendrix, im on the phone with gm trying to sell sell sell. imgine if they incorporated these into diff fix??????

    back to work.

That would be fine by me LOL..I cant see anyone else steping into this market, well they could but it is very very very expensive to make the bigger axle, every thing is custom and we use it on a varity of other axles to offset the cost.I can tell you NO ONE would want to sell these axles at the price they are now. They would say were crazy!LOL

So just for fun, i looked on DSS's website and found a local shop listed under their dealers tab. Called and got a quote. Looks like Hendrix is def the best deal out there! No sales tax if buying from out of state right?

Oh and i wouldn't have posted this in your thread if it happened to be lower Hendrix,. Just giving you some low prices props

Took me longer than I expected. First, I locked the car with my keys inside and had to call OnStar. The axle nut was REALLY on there, so that took a while to get loose. One of my two jacks broke (dang Harbor Freight junk ). Then, I lowered the car down and realized I hadn't tightened the nut on the ball stud. (I'm no mechanic ... can you tell?) Well, by then, it was too late to make a run.

Oh, and for those who are going to do this themselves, I would strongly recommend one of those slick ratchet-type box end wrenches for the ball stud nut. It's 21 mm. I have an 18 mm one, but I didn't have a 21 mm one, and it was a PITA the way I did it. Probably added 10-15 minutes easy.

Almost forgot. Don't recall if this was already posted, but I measured the DSS axle diameters, too, before I put them in. They are:

Pass side: 35.00 mm (vs ~33.10 mm stock)

Driver side: 28.75 mm (vs ~33.04 mm stock)
How did you determine which was the passenger side and which was the driver's side?

I'm second guessing myself now, but I THOUGHT the passenger side was longer by a couple of inches. Okay, I just went out in the garage and checked the OEM axles sitting there, and YES, the passenger side is longer by 3-4". The section between the CVs is the part that's longer.

    Any chance that's the reason?

Perhaps. I am about to find out. I do know the stock axles have different part numbers and are different. I am going to pull the HE axle out that I have been unable to complete and try the other HE axle in its place. I have been trying to put the larger diameter one on the driver's side which is opposite from yours. Nothing else is working anyway. Thanks.

Re: Hendrix-Engineering getting to know you axle sale!

I thought Thomas said they were the same length in a thread somewhere (maybe this one)? And like you said Darkman, I thought the CV's were just in closer on one than the other but ended up being the same length. Thomas can you verify??

I DID sit the HE axles next to the stock ones (didn't measure) but they looked about the same, but again I didn't measure. I tried to match up the ones that looked close to the stock ones

Well, the Hendrix-Engineering axles are not interchangeable. If you don't put the longer, thicker one on the passenger side and the shorter, thinner one on the driver's side the fat lady won't sing.

So you got em installed now? Or are you letting your arms rest inside away from the 100 degree heat?

That would be helpful if Thomas added DRIVERS SIDE and PASSENGER SIDE to each torque warning sticker on the axles. (hint hint)
