Re: Hendrix-Engineering getting to know you axle sale!

well ill go in the order that it came to me. well my car was broke again (oem axles) so i ordered up the hendrix axles. saturday i began tearing down the rear to remove the broke one and of course the other side as well. turns out my oem axle broke on the splines inside the rear diff. AWESOME!!! so out came the diff and the side cover to remove the peices. in goes back the diff and the Hendrix axles. (VERY stout looking peices i might add) anyway i had only one imediate possible problem (so i thought) and thats the driverside cv boot is barely rubbing my STS twin turbo intake pipe. i still dont know what to do with that one yet. i just rubbed alot of wheel bearing grease on it so it may not burn it up. i took the car for an hours drive and then i stopped on dry ass pavement with the car in comp driving mode reved her up to 3 grand and popped the clutch and well i did a full on no hop burnout. wonderful. so then i stopped again revved it up to 3 grand popped the clutch and brake torqued it. hhhmmm hopped about 4 times then plained out and spun wonderfully. very small hops but hops non the less. OK the bad is that i had to drive back to where i live during the week which is a 5 hour drive and when i get home i get under the car to check everything out and horror ensues! i havent spoke to thomas yet but there is a ring of bolts around the cv's on both ends of each axle and they hold in grease. needless to say my entire undercarrage is covered with grease because not one of the 4 ring of bolts were tightened before they left hendrix e. shop. i can turn them with my fingers.. i know i know i shoulda checked them myself and sh*#t happens but still im a lil upset cause now i gotta take them back out to finish what shoulda been done before they were shipped. by no means am i trying to put down hendrix in any way im sure hendrix is an awsome company and i know thomas was very very cool guy to talk to on the phone. It was just a freak accident im sure>>. prolly built mine friday evening hehehe

Well some of us won't have the STS twin turbo intake pipe clearance issue but I will check for loose bolts.

    Hm-m ...

If I don't check, those same bolts will be loose in mine. If I do check, they'll be just fine.

YES that is a very good piece of info...just a bit late for me anyhow. i would think a label taped to one of the axles with the TQ specs would only be propper. How would anyone have known the correct TQ specs without further contact to you? And i still dont understand why they couldnt be TQed from the factory. according to what you say i cant order up a trans from TCI and it be properly TQed throughout or a crate motor or a complete 9" ford rear from strange engineering or anything along those lines?

OK so lets get it straight the bolts need to be TQed to 57ftlbs while installed in the car. or does it matter if in or out? cause looking at it id rather do the work to pull them back outta the car to TQ them rather fight through all the hard to reach spots if it doesnt matter. Boy do i feel like a wanker now that its my first day in the forum and im causing a ruckuss... hehe i guess the jokes on me but everyone else can thank me for bringing important info to light!!!!!!

I seem to recall someone else mentioning very specifically that those bolts needed to be torqued by the installer.

It doesn't matter if you torque them outside the car before the install.........right?
