Dang! Is that a new avatar? Me likey!
Yeah I've been spicing things up a bit. Changed the sig, changed the avatar. Even changed the welcome message on my V to, "I WOULD HANG ON" lol
Wait, cadillac has a new half shaft/s for the 04-07 V's as of this year? I know they came out w/ a new diff version this year (which is sittin on my garage floor waitin for the bushing tool)
^^^^ aren't these guys talking about custom half shafts?
Video that $hit!! Pleeeeeaaassee
Just to clear things up for a few people:
Cadillac came out with revised (thicker) axle shafts at the same time they revised the rear differential in 2006. People have tried using one '06 style axle and one '04 style axle to cure wheelhop, but it didn't work. The OP in this thread had custom axles made that are drastically different in size.
Hope this works out for the best.
1. What modifications did you make in material (i.e. carbon steel, stainless, chrome molly), and style (i.e. u-joints, cv's)
2. Did you make one axle diameter larger than the other? Specifically what size (i.e. 1" left, 1.5" right, or 1.5" both L/ R)
4. A video for christ's sake lol
One more thing. Have we already thought of changing our CV's to U-Joints and actually making them WEAKER...so that they have a break point to where the u-joint would snap before the diff? Not a cure, but would certainly save money. $20 for a u-joint and 30 min in the garage seems a lot nicer than $2000 in parts and 3 hours of labor at a shop plus an alignment.
If those things were a little cheaper I would do it. I may once my wallet recovers from everything else but I'm still not done! I haven't even started my car yet! : (
so when are we going to get some launches on vid to study. these will sell if this is a good fix for us
