Re: URGENT: For those who have the 561 Traction Kit

Update:

I was not able to get a final measurement from my shop who installed the kit. But they did tell me what they had to do to make the kit fit.

1) Cut the main bar in two pieces
2) Weld the end brackets (mounting points) where they needed to be
3) Splice in (weld) about 1.5" of material to the bar
4) Coat the newly added material with rustoleum

I haven't had a chance to really check out how the final product looks but next time I have my car on jackstands, I will get some pix of how it finally turned out.

My kit hangs down pretty low, just crawl under from behind and have a look.

Re: URGENT: For those who have the 561 Traction Kit

thanks tweeter. That'll help me out plenty.

I got a 05 cradle I'm gonna chop it up on and weld it back down. Then I can put it on my 06..... let's hope the cradle mounts are the same between years!.... which they should be........

Re: URGENT: For those who have the 561 Traction Kit

the brackets are shaped like an L, mount to the front set of rear body mounts. There is another set of smaller lshaped brackets which bolt to holes in the cradle assembly.

Re: URGENT: For those who have the 561 Traction Kit

For the record: I wish I had never bought this kit. It works about 90% of the time if the ambient temps and my tires are warmer than 75 degrees F. But all the added noise, the hassle and extra cost to get it to fit, and now with these new Axles hitting the market I will most likely just take the damn thing off when I get the axles and call it good.

This kit isn't a total waste because it doesn eliminate wheelhop in most instances, but not all.

Re: URGENT: For those who have the 561 Traction Kit

Does anyone have a measurement of what the length of the bar is SUPPOSED to be from bracket to bracket? I'm looking at buying one of these off someone but I just want to know what I'm getting myself into,

Don't do it Ted. Save up and get them axles. It's not worth it. I've got a guy from ls1tech that is buying mine. It's never been installed and won't ever be put on my car.

Well I decided I'm gonna buy the kit. Don't have the money for the axles and won't anytime soon. This should at least protect my diff and reduce 60%-75% of the hop which is good enough for me anyway.

So does anyone have the measurement of what it is supposed to be?
