my guess is that the gig was pry correct, but the guy welding it up pry welded the middle plate last on the gig...shrinking the middle tube down slightly so now it doesn't fit.
Looks like the best way to resolve this problem would be to cut off the mounting brackets and put em on the car then tack it in place with a wire welder... take it off, finish welding it up and repaint it.....or you could guestimate and cut it in half and add a spacer in the middle. |
That is fcuked up!
I don't care what anyone has to say about mod hell and "Oh you wanna play, you gotta pay." Yeah, I know I gotta pay. That's what I did when I forked over the, what was it, like, 700 duckets or so for a couple of metal bars (since that's all they are at this point, being that they don't fit right).
And I don't know where one would get the notion that go fast parts never fit right. I don't know about you, but if the part doesn't fit right, I ain't forkin over the money. Yes, of course, most people will understand that sometimes it will take a bit of finesse and persuasion to get a part to fit just right. However, that's a far cry from someone totally fubaring a part to the extent that every mounting point is off by 3/4 of an inch. And it was made on a jig, no less! Ingenious use of a jig. Now every one has got a perfect replica of a collection of bars that do not fit by the same exact amount. Hooray for us!
This is not a case of slight variations between vehicles and variances in manufacturing tolerance. This is an outright manufacturing error. Big difference.
And for me, an integral part of modding a vehicle is doing it myself. I was not aware that these kits would be lacking in material and did not plan on having to do any welding/fabricating for the piece (which I don't have experience doing nor the equipment to do so). So, now, I have to either hand it over to a shop (which, again, is, for the most part, not part of my method of modding) or just let it continue to sit and collect dust (which I'm very good at doing). Yay for me! |

Like Car =x bar =y so those of us who havent installed it yet could at least measure it up and know withouth getting under the car (mine's still in storage)

I eyeballed it with a tape so it's not down the the thousandths... but I wanted to get a general idea after seeing this poast come up the afternoon I was installing my kit.... so I got "rough" numbers I can provide. I'll get them up later... I'm at work now. |

The measurements I took are starting from the widest point and going down the kit and getting narrower. Please note that the widest mounting points (the weldable brackets to the frame) I did not measure because I already had the car up on jackstands...and that's where the stands were.... and I wasn't moving them... after reading my notes I'm not entirely sure I want to post em up because I'm not 100% sure of their integrity....
What I am sure of it the round mounting holes, and the higher cradle mounting points (L bracket) were both the same size on the car and on the KARS kit and both of those two measurements were off by 3/4" the KARS kit 3/4" on the narrow side.
My notes are stating 39" and 39 3/4" for those two mounting points.
again.. I didn't measure the outermost mounting points becasue of the jack stands, and I did this eyeballing it with a tape measure... so trust me they could be off by as much as a 1/4".... but the KARS kit was 100% too narrow for my 06 V rear end cradle.
My kit came off the last batch of the KARS kits produced, to my knowedge no one (other than the one on this thread) has had any fitment problems at all. As far as I know other than these two kits every other KARS III and earlier kit has fit like a glove |

I will keep everyone posted to what my shop had to do to make the bar fit. Hopefully I will have the car back this coming weekend.

If mine doesn't fit, I'm going to be pissed!! This is total horse$hit! If there was a company making performance parts that didn't actually fit, they be outta business with the quickness...oh wait, he is outta business...where are you csp3000?!!! First the F up on shipping, now this? uuugghhhhh! I paid money for a bolt-on kit, not a waste my time-fix somebody's F up-maybe-sorta-lines up-you'll have to reweld a bunch of pieces to make it fit-kit!!!!!!!!!

Then again if Heavy is right...and the jig was a little off... then they are all have too narrow mounting points. Check it out 1st man before you go "off tha hook" |
