What is the truth about bolt on and engine tune mods for the ls6. Is it simple math, intake-20hp,-exhaust-35hp,-program tune-20hp, after market intake manifold-35hp, if you added all this up would the ctsv pump out 110hp more? this doesn't seem to make sense to me. Has anyone actually done all the above and dynoed for results. What is the highest horsepower achieved with only bolt ons(not including supercharging) for the ctsv ls6 only. thanks |

the only way to tell is strap her on the dyno before and after |

Exhaust: Maybe 1rwhp
Tune: With above mods...around 15rwhp
I went from 323rwhp stock to 338rwhp with the above mods added.
I'm not sure how much aftermarket intake manifold would really add. I would guess 5-10rwhp if you had it tuned properly. |

You can go the cheap and sleazy way and go nitrous.

Cadillac(s): 2005 CTS-V | | Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: South Lyon, MI Age: 60 | | | Re: Cadillac engine mod Question Bolt-ons would include headers, an intake (e.g. FAST 90), a 90mm TB, 1-3/4" headers, B&B full 3" exhaust, and a tune. (Forget the CAI, and I didn't include a crank pulley change nor valve train items.)
IMHO, this would get you up to ~45 RWHP.

Does changing out the crank pulley, UD pulley, or adding rocker arms/dual springs really add power? |

With those three stock components in place on an LS6 the CAI, aftermarket intake manifold, and catback exhaust would yield very little. The tune would depend on the tuner and therefore is always a crap shoot. |

cheap and sleazy is a dry kit...a good (aka small) wet kit and a tune won't do you wrong....but refilling the bottle gets old... quick....
To do the happy gas right you need a wet kit, remote bottle opener, purge kit, bottle blanket, and an rpm switch.... after all the addons it's isn't much cheaper than doing mods the right way (the right way is FI or heads/cam... anything but the gas) Quote:

And peak numbers are not the world...
I have a nice little beast comin together, but i think i went a bit overboard with the ported L92 heads...I will have a 500+ hp engine, but will i be happy with a loopie and unperdictable engine, not my cup of tea...But we shall see. I am goin with a two peice timin cover so cam changes aught to take less time and effort... |

I've heard the throttle bodies are a joke from some places...
