Headers and a light Tune

Remove this ad
Wow.....Got it all on Friday...No Cats .....and it certainly woke the car up....Maybe its my imagination but it seems like a lot more than 20 or 30 HP....

I should of done it a long time ago.. So for anyone on the border.....I think you will be pleasantly suprised how much fun factor it adds....

Now my sons friend with a anniversary Camaro SS wants to race....he's got headers too....maybe a LS1?? Im not sure....
Do i have a chance?? I jokingly told him first one to 160 wins.....but i guess he's had the governor tuned out of his....Lol....

Re: Headers and a light Tune

Next to a maggie, installing headers really drove my fuel economy down ... right after the install. It was so-o much fun to hear them, and all you had to do was put your right foot down ... I did that a lot.

Naw, sorry Keith, you're only getting that 30 hp max improvement. Your right foot is just a whole lot happier, now.

Ain't the sound great?

Congrats! Headers are glorious! Especially without cats.

About the SS, as long as you run him from a roll you should be good. Say 40 in second or 60 in third. I hate running cars from a dig. I ran my buddy with a M3 and he jumped out fast. Once you get traction its just a matter of how much road there is till the next light. Thats why from a roll is best.

No, I did have a sweet Jeep Grand Cherokee with 195bhp though.

I feel its much safer on my rear if I do it from a roll....not that I race on the street...on the track of course. Hmmm, maybe that's why my 1/4 mile times are so fast. I do them from a 40 roll.

yeah but i'm still with whisler on this. only reason our cars aren't doing consistent 12s in the quarter is because we can't start too easily. once we get going, we make up for it.

do it from a roll

Maybe it's from all the years of a DSM (Studderbox+Antilag+6puck+AWD) doing anything from a roll just seems so

If you ran him from a roll I guarantee you would take him. Ask him what his trap speed was when he ran the 12.8.

Example: If you run an Evo 0-60 or 1/4 mile chances are he will beat you. Try racing that same Evo from a 40 roll. You have all the hp and tq that will pull you ahead.

Just my $0.02

(someone correct me if i'm wrong)

Re: Headers and a light Tune

he asks my son everyday for me to race him...i might have to try it....his is an auto....so should gobble up some of his HP....but he has traction bars, drag radials amongst other stuff.....Must have all that stuff for a reason....

trap speed is 109.8.

Last edited by keithsm2; 11-18-08 at 08:32 PM. Reason: trap speed
