I imagine it's a good time to change the dick, pressure plate out and resurface the flywheel.
The car is pretty much stock, with only a Corsa exhaust as an add-on. I don't expect to much more in the performance area as I am happy with the car as a daily driver.
So, what is the "best bang for the buck" on a replacement clutch kit?
Also, should I replace the slave and master cylinder in the process?
Also, I am looking for a performance shop in Las Vegas that can be recommended for V work. I would like to try a few of the aftermarket traction kits. |

Cant really give much on options for clutches but I have a Fidanza LS7 flywheel with stock LS7 disk and pressure plate. You will need a spacer for the stock slave or McLeod makes one that you can order with the right piston. The stock disk and pressure plate is also good with the UUC flywheel. |

A stock replacement would probably be the best, or better yet go the way of many and get a single mass like the LS7 or the Vette LS6. |

All you need to do is enlargen the bell housing hole for the clutch line and add a spacer. TPIS and Katec sell the spacer. I have had this combo now for over 60K miles. Car feels 500 lb lighter. Clutch action is lighter. It is hard to measure the change on a dyno, but it feels like 25 hp or so. You are removing 30 lb of reciprocating weight.
I don't know if the Z07 assembly is any better or fits as well. The Z06 flywheel with clutch part number is 12570806 - about $413 at GM Parts Direct.
The part number for the LS7 clutch alone is 24238412.
Conclusion: there are no disadvantages to this change. The car feels "stock". Clutch engagement feels just fine. You will be very happy with this change. |

But Caddie designed the bullshit bell housing such that it is impossible to bleed it properly, hence people use the suck it up from the reservoir and pump method.
Here are some options:
OEM pressure plate and disk, but you still have the POS dual mass flywheel.
LS1/LS6 flywheel, disk, and pressure plate. I went this route because there are so many after market parts for it. I decided on a Kartec clutch rated at 700hp. But you need to buy a spacer for the slave and since I also used a LS6 slave, I had to modify the master's line to make it work. I also added a speed bleeder.
LS2/LS7 flywheel, disk, pressure plate, and slave. Lindsay has a set up for you.
I am from Vegas and I did the work myself but I am no mechanic. I have a friend who built my twin turbo Corvette what can do the job, pm me if you are interested and I will give you his number. |

My clutch felt loads better after getting some new fluid in there. If that doesn't do anthing your only out 15 bucks and you can really have some fun getting a LS7 clutch with a better flywheel. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
