    Kooks Headers for the CTS-V

We are working with Kooks on building 1 3/4" Headers in Stainless Steel for the CTS-V and possibly 1 7/8" for those who need a larger header. To be able to do this we need a pole of just how many would by them. Here is what we know so far.

The price would be about the same as the LS1 Corvette Headers in Stainless Steel.

It would require 1/2 deposit before Kooks would start building the headers.

It would be around September before the Headers would be available to the public and those that paid 1/2 now would pay the other 1/2 before shipment and get the first shipment that went out.

There is a minimum of 25 orders we need to get this ball rolling and get the headers and jig complete.

Anyone interested in this should reply to this poll ASAP. On Monday we will determine if there is enough response to continue with this. If there is enough demand, those that would like the headers are incouraged to contact us for the deposit and to get the ball rolling.

    Thank You,

    More Performance Inc.

Any chance they would be available in a ceramic coating as an option?

Ball park on the cost? What grade stainless?
Will this be matched up with the Corsa system?

Re: Kooks Headers for the CTS-V

Having owned an 8 sec Buick Grand National and living in Ct I know a little about Kooks products. Their products are some of the best I have ever seen and they have the most well run operation I have ever seen. if you want work done at their shop you make an appointment, when you wheel your car in there they work on it right away. they work on a tight well orchestrated schedule. I never had the pleasure of dealing with them because they were too expensive for me (friend paid $4k for 1 - 6cyl header and a down pipe) but their finished product looked better than some of the piping I've seen on Nextel cup cars. When I first saw this thread I thought " geez, here come the $4k set of headers" , but if they are competitively priced, I would take a set of Kooks headers over anyones. Get me a ballpark on the 1-7/8ths and I'll see if I can come up with the $$$.

What is the price on the LS1 headers? I know LS6 are in the $2k range installed but I don't know actual part cost.

At 25 orders we had better get a group discount. I'll take a pair of the 1 7/8" for sure.

Anyone know the HP gain difference? Is it worth it to go with the slightly louder pipe or just a waste of $$ and sleeper-ability.

If it's only 1 or 2 hp difference I'd go 1 3/4 but if it's a big gain I will go with the bigger ones.

I'll give you my AmEx # as soon as I have an answer.

On your website you have a great picture of the LS-1 Vette Kooks headers...says priced "from" $895. The ss we're talking about...how much higher than "from" are we talking? With Corsa taling "about" a grand...we're talking a high dollar "system" when put together. I spoke with the Kooks folks a month ago...said they'd love to build 'em...needed a mule...
Btw...love your CTS-V "cold air box"

I responded "yes" to the poll, but would also like some more info.

    1) Price
    2) Install - will it be a bolt into the stock and/or Corsa system?
    3) Effect on cats and their location
    4) O2 sensor changes required?

Thanks, and yes, I too, like the CAIK. Gives a nice little boost in the midrange around town driving

I am interested in price and HP gains.

Also, a group discount would definitely convince me.

If Kooks is looking for a mule and they will give me a good discount, i would offer up my car only because I know they wouldn't abuse it and I know they wouldn't keep it long. If you are in touch with them , let me know. gn1270@aol.com Thanks, Scott

Re: Kooks Headers for the CTS-V

We already have a mule for this and do not need one at this time. If we do need one, I will keep you in mind Scott. The cost of the headers will be around $859.99. Installation will depend on where you haveit done. Until we have enough orders, the deposit from everyone and the go ahead from Kooks, we can not decide on a GP purchase at this time but will try to put one together. The headers are made from 18 guage stainless steel with coating being an option at $250.00 extra. I would not recommend getting both but just sticking with the Stainless. They will bolt to the corsa system or stock and that is what we will build it around at the present.

There is no need unless you have a large cubic inch engine or a large heads/cam package to go with the 1 7/8" headers. You would probably see a loss in TQ if you went with a large header on stock engines.

Anyone else have questions, please let me know.

So you are thinking for a stock engine go with 1 3/4" and no coating? If so I'll take it for the $859 range. Let me know where/how to put a deposit down.

Are you going to have a California Air Resources Board EO # on this?

Does the $860 include catalytic converters?

Doubt it. I think those are $550 installed.
