The original KARS kit was what, $400? Then they lowered the price back to $6xx only to charge you that for delivery?
I thought they were shipping out two days ago?

I'll be sending my extra money once my paypal account gets fixed. I had this happen to me before sending a body kit cross country. FedEx quoted one thing then went up $80 when it was time to ship it.

I feel bad because I'm sure it's an honest mistake... but WHOA it's now almost 5x more... and that's a hefty error. I didn't leave myself much left in my paypal account
(I use my discovercard refunds to populate my paypal... so it's gonna take a bit to get another 150 bucks in there) |

Anyways I was thinking that we were originally quoted $624 for the kit and qouted only $20 +/- for shipping which threw a red flag for me because I was sure it was going to be about $50-$60 dollars for shipping but I wasn't complaing about it being cheaper. Anywho I was thinking that we could all help for shipping but only pay a total of $700 total after the Kit+shipping. We were already told that these kits were about $700 dollars, so we can give them the benefit of the dout. As for maddie being out all that money I feel bad and there are honest mistakes and miscommunications, But I dont think any of us were thinking $140-$160 dollars difference. So for maddie to get the remainder of her money I think that Motorwerks should give her the remainder of what was paid to ship these out. Let me know if I am out of my place in this situation.... |

To be $100+ over, just makes for a rude awakening. If shipping is that expensive, then make the kit cheaper. Especially when the original was much less expensive.
Ugghhhhh just letting off steam. Sorry |

This is the second batch so shipping should not have been an unknown it should have been a pretty known fact as first kits went all over. Gas has dropped since then and fuel surcharges have not escalated since then either. Not really any business of mine just looking at thread and if I had bought one that would be my question. |

It's not their fault that the shipping rates are what they are, but if they had shipped a month ago it would be a different story.
Some routine small shipments that I make via UPS have DOUBLED in price in the last month (for whatever reason). I can understand how a package like this can go up a lot, it's just a shame that they weren't shipped a month ago before the shipping prices went up. |

You support for the kit was very special. I wish there was a way to have stayed in business and continue making the traction kit for the community here at the forum which is like a second home for me but in the end it was way too expensive to continue. This was not a venture to get rich but one to help our community of CTS V’s. Just try to do it your self and you will see that there is little money and sometimes no money at all in this venture. Again this was done for my love of the V.
My sister got involved when my day job that pays for my food and shelter got very demanding and needed much more of my time. I would not have been able to even make anymore kits after the first batch if it wasn’t for my sister Madison. As far as the shipping and handling goes my sister was never involved with the first run and did not know the shipping and handling charges were more the what I guessed a long time ago at the first page in this thread. Everyone that bought a kit from the first run paid alot more the 35-40 dollars to get it to them. This would be my fault for not getting to her before she quoted everyone. But I must stress that because of the shape and length of the kit it is expensive.
As far as the price we tried to raise it to 700 so that it would at least make sense to keep the company afloat so more people could get the traction kit but in the end I believe that the price of 700 was too much for people right now. So in the interest of not losing all my money that I put into the kits we brought it back down to 600 so at the very least we could break even. If I had the time and was able to do the work myself I am sure I could make a good business out of doing the kits even for 600 but in the end that is not my profession and the cost of putting these kits together was very high. Doug’s original kit and the version that 561motorwerks did is a great kit for all CTS V owners and I hope that someone will continue this project who has the skills to do it themselves in order to keep cost down because it would really be such a waste to just let this go our V’s.
I also want to thank everyone also for helping Madison with the shipping and handling crises and I am sorry for all the inconvenience,
Best,
Chris |
