I got my kooks headers and the factory catted connections today and I was wondering if you guys think that they are the correct ones? These seem to have a slip fit at the end and all the other ones that I have seen either have flush cut pipes or a flange at the end. Thanks in advance for helping me out. I am planning on doing the install tonight (passenger header is already on)!

Not sure if your setup was designed to connect to the stock cat back, but the stock system will have to be cut. The stock cat back comes right up to the collector it is so long.
Currently trying to fit Kook's Corsa cats to stock pipe.

It's been two years since I put mine in, and I can't remember yesterday. I do recall having to rotate them to find the best angle to mate up downstream ... kind of a pain.
Hey, Skull, you didn't mention it so I'm assuming you had no issues with the dipstick tube?

If you were connecting to a Corsa they would have longer pipes, but it is the same slit, slip on design it is just the slit is in the resonator for a Corsa so the pipe is straight.
We used those to hook to another type of exhaust too, but I forgot which one, and the right cat had to be modified. I think it was a Magnaflow setup.
I haven't done one to a stock exhaust.
So far of the ones I have done, the Corsa is the best fit right out of the box with the Kooks setup.

EWill is right on. Coars lead pipes are longer to mate up with the resonator.
Whatever you do, take the extra time to get those slip fit's welded in. The only join you want in your system is between the header collectors, and the lead pipes.
BTW, you are gonna LOVE the sound

The pipes for the stock cats are too small and it makes it impossible to clamp them down to prevent leaks.
The Kooks cat pipes are a beautiful fit into the resonators and the clamps will hold without leaking.
Depending on how it is set up though, like what equipment you have, welding at the inlet of the resonator could be a great idea.
Be sure stuff lines up right, those cats are not labeled but there is a left and a right. Mixing them up can cause fit issues. |
